Excellent article. Excellent thread! Excellent list of five points!

Whose Bible is it, anyway?

Who's in authority here?

The need for sacraments?

Praying with the saints?

What motivates Catholic Marian devotion?

Thanks for the ping; post. Very interesting/informative/educational article by Peter Kreeft. I was toddling along down the great road of life until...

To Catholics, the Church is “the mystical Body of Christ.” The Church is a “mystery.” Fundamentalists don’t understand this category. “Mystery” sounds suspiciously pagan to them. They want their religion to be clear and simple (as Moslems do).

It strikes me as a very unnecessary blade to the throat.

I'll continue from there sometime during the week.

Thanks for the ping; post. /to bed

This 'where is it in the Bible' belief comes from those who think the Bible is not just an account of some of the actions of God but is literally God.

John wrote that all is not contained in the Bible. John 21:25 (New International Version) Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

Jesus [God] believed in teaching through people, both good and bad. The 'Bible' records He only wrote once in sand but He sent people to spread His word.

I think that Fundamentalists will eventually come to see that the Holy Spirit did not show up just once to Bible writers but guides the Church continually until the end of time.
