In June of 2009 an e-mail was sent to subscribers concerning a little known Rabbinic prophesy according to Israel Today. According to this article, Rabbi Judah Ben Samuel was a top Talmudic scholar in Germany. Just before he died in the year 1217 he prophesied that the Ottoman Turks would rule over the holy city of Jerusalem for eight jubilees. That is 400 years (8 x 50). The Ottoman Turks did take control of Jerusalem 300 years after the Rabbis death in 1517 and as according to the prophecy, the Ottoman Turks then lost Jerusalem 400 years later in 1917. It was during WWI that British General Edmund Allenby walked into Jerusalem on Hanukkah without firing a shot in 1917. The timing of this with the holiday and the ease at which it occurred indeed make this moment of history extremely significant.
In the book, Signs of the End, the significance of this date and its events helped launch the book. This was without even knowing of the Rabbis prophecy. They key was Allenbys entrance into Jerusalem during Hanukkah. With the first world war underway with nation rising against nation and kingdom against kingdom there was added importance. In 1917 all nations that were involved in the war had become involved. But the kickoff day for WWI was the 9th of Av 2014, when Russia and Germany entered the war establishing the plurality of nations involved in the war. In doing a study on the day counts found in Daniel, these two days came up on the radar screen at the same spacing and these days were the second day of Hanukkah (Kislev 26) and the 9th of Av. With these days occurring in 1914 and 1917, it was found that 100 years later that the same day counts of Daniel occur. This with 100 years being the limit of a generation found in the Bible (as defined by Abrahams 4 generations of a total of 400 years-is it a coincidence that the Rabbis prophesy of 400 years also ends in 1917?).
The Rabbi then went on to say that after the eight jubilees, the ninth jubilee would have Jerusalem being a no-mans-land, which it was from 1917 to 1967 until the Six-Day-War. The Rabbis prophecy then stated that in the tenth Jubilee that Jerusalem would be controlled by Israel and then the Messianic end times would begin. That would then bring the time to 2017.
The article concerning the Rabbi is linked below:
So . . . the idea is that the Rapture takes place seven years before (2010) the millennial kingdom commences (2017)?
It looks like he's done some painstaking research on Biblical timelines, patterns of events with set number of days between the events that have corresponded to dates on the Jewish calendar- it really is some credible, fascinating stuff.
And I'm not a math genius, but it appears to all add up.
Even so Lord, come quickly.
And I'm not a math genius, but it appears to all add up.
This seems to mesh with Solar and Lunar Eclipses in 2014/15

which is 3 1/2 years into this Sabbatical cycle.
Yes, I did see this- someone posted it earlier- and my reaction was that Harold Camping is a kook who makes all of us who are looking for Christ's return look like fringe loonies.
If Camping truly scrutinized his Bible, he would know that God said that no man knows the day nor the hour of the Rapture- we would know when it's at the door but not the actual date and time- and he would never have made such an asinine statement.
My guess is that Harold Camping craves attention. From some responses on the other thread, it appears as though he's pulled this stunt before- declaring a date and time for the Rapture which came and went along with his credibility.
And yes Tara- we are unbelievably close!!!
Extremely interesting prophecy article re: 2017
Where the Turks — specifically the Ottoman Turks — even known in the Rabbi’s time? Or did he refer to them by some other name?
That I don’t know- I haven’t seen the exact wording of the prophecy.

Sorry..., but no Christian should take any word from a Muslim cleric or Jewish Rabbi or Buddhist monk or Gentile clairvoyant or Mormon prophet or any ole whacko as significant “prophecy” — other than the 66 books of the Bible from those 40 authors that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob chose to write down His inerrant and infallible words which we refer to as the Bible.
And from that “Word of God” we can see that the stage is being set for these final prophetic events of the Tribulation to take place but we don’t know when it’s going to be “kicked off” and that it could all start within days or hours from now or after we’re already dead and gone from this earthly scene, since Jesus said we wouldn’t know.
Study what God’s prophecies tell us, for sure, knowing all the while that we’ll never get any “timing” for the last 7 years of Daniel’s prophecy to “kick off” because God made sure we wouldn’t. He made sure to let us know that it can happen at any time. But also be sure to ignore any “prophecies” from any man because none are dependable outside of the revelation of Scripture.
Yehudah HaChassid, as he is known, was a witness and survivor to countless murders of Jews by Crusaders.
Ottomans were bit players in the Islam of his day and not notable until a generation after his death.
He urged Jews to accept martyrdom rather than conversion to Christianity, and is a revered Jewish teacher to this day.
I believe that all prophecy concerning the return of Christ, the seven year Tribulation, and His millennial kingdom are all complete in the Scriptures, with nothing to be added to those prophecies, but I'm not going to be the one who makes any emphatic statement that God has never, ever used anyone else, especially a Rabbi, to prophecy something like this that latter day Christians could then use as confirmation that Christ's return is near and see fulfilled Christ's promise that we would know when His return is "at the door".
I don't know if this Rabbi made this prophecy in God's name or not, but it did come to pass and therefore I will not dismiss it.
Your point is?
