**How will we [raise our children in the discipline and admonition of the Lord] unless we read and explain the Scriptures to our children and catechize these precious ones whom God has entrusted to our care? **

I would suggest reading the readings for each Sunday and discussing them. There are many reflections, several on the Gospel alone, if you want to start there with some questions to start with. Don’t worry if this is Catholic — the readings are so similar in a Protestant Bible for most of them.

Just my two cents worth.

Another thing — Start simply — such as for the four weeks of Advent or the six weeks (40 days of Lent) — you might convince children if you start with this shortened agenda.

Then as you finish you can ask your children how they might suggest continuing. Perhaps they would like to lead the regular family night. Or rotate leaders: Father, Mother, Oldest Child, and so forth.
