They came wanting to say their Islamic prayers, and ended up praying to Jesus for salvation!

were saying the same thing
If we are saying the same thing, why do you have a problem with the title “comes to Christ”?
Along this line, check out the book “Muslims, Christians, and Jesus” by Carl Medearis.
These folks may have chosen Christ - but it sure doesnt mean a thing without the work of the HS.
John 15:16 16You did not choose me, but I chose you....
Your words demonstrate you have no clue what this flesh age is about and why it was set in motion. Some were chosen before the foundation of this world. Paul in Ephesians 1:4.
That is all well and good but it didn’t say they chose Christ. It said they came to Christ and they did.
im apt to lean on my seminary education as opposed to your exegesis and desire to prove me errant
Romans 3:10-23,Titus 3:5;Romans 3:20,28; Galatians 2:16,21; 3:21
salvation through Grace: Romans 3:24,25; Ephesians 1:7; 2: 8,9; 1 Peter 1:18,19. 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2. Only through believing and receiving (not choosing) Jesus alone into our life, through repentance, can we experience salvation- John 1:12; 3:16,36; 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 10:9,10
They live in a culture where professing Christ is not just saying some prayer and going on about your life as usual. They are in danger for their very lives. Who sir do you believe drew them into that church to hear the Word of God in the first place?
The article states that they received the Word and prayed for salvation. After hearing the Word they believed it and acted on it. They then displayed the fruit of repentance in their act of returning to church to worship God instead of kneeling to say their Islamic prayers.
The article doesn’t give us great detail about all that was said and done. That doesn’t meant that their conversion was not genuine.
Your first post to this thread was not kind. It assumed that these people did not have a true conversion to Christ because of the way the headline was worded. You can not judge their hearts. No one said they were doing Christ a favor. Instead of accepting this news with thanksgiving, you mocked it.
3rd John 1:3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.
Receiving is an act of free will, is it not? Or do you deny that there is any free will?
My desire has nothing to do with proving you errant. Paul's words do not need the filtration of a seminary to demonstrate that 'some' souls were chosen/elected before this present earth age began. Paul was doing his own will until he was literally stopped on his way to Damascus. Peter says there are three different heaven/earth ages. IIPeter 3.
Yet in John 3:16 there is a 'choice' given to those who would. Meaning some come born with 'free' will and others were predestined before as Paul says the foundation of this world. Ephesians 1:4.
Is anything you "choose" in "free will" a surprise to God?
plainly no - how free is it then?
Is anything you "choose" not ordained by Him?
again - no
Is anything you or satan can do, strong enough to counteract what He has willed for you?
You do realize the doctrine of free will is reasonably new, no?
***Receiving is an act of free will, is it not?***
The person who God regenerates WILL respond in faith. It is ALL of God.
you really need to clarify this thought with more citations
as i do any claim of conversion that neither includes repentance or acknowledgment that the action of salvation is an act of Holy Grace. This article was unclear in both regards, yet served up the typical dish of feel goodism so prevalent in our society
“yet served up the typical dish of feel goodism so prevalent in our society”
I say praise the Lord that someone is out there sharing the Word of God with Iranian Muslims. They were presented with the Word and they received it eagerly.
I am not sure what it matters if the ARTICLE mentions that salvation is an act of grace as long as we know that it is. It was a testimony not a theological dissertation on salvation.
I doubt that entering a Christian church, hearing the Word of God, prayers to the God of the Bible and a return to church service in IRAN (where they can die from these actions) is an act of feel goodism.
I was 18 years old when the Lord saved me. I did not understand everything about salvation. I heard the Word of God and I was convicted of my sin. I responded to the drawing of the Holy Spirit. I prayed a simple prayer asking for forgiveness for my sin. From that moment on I was changed, a new creation if you will. I am glad that no one was there to question all the theological points of my salvation experience.
You seem to have this idea that some specific formula with all the right words and experiences is needed for salvation to be real. This is what the Word of God says in Romans 10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Of course, you are welcome to your opinion.
Romans 3:10-23,Titus 3:5;Romans 3:20,28; Galatians 2:16,21; 3:21
All these scriptures are referring to the inability of following the law to save us. I am not sure what that has to do with what we are talking about. The article did not say that the couple was trying to follow the law to be saved.
The rest of the scriptures you have given are wonderful but in no way contradict what happened with this couple.
please dont presume my "ideas"
They didn’t mention salvation by grace in the article so you PRESUMED that they were not truly saved. If you don’t want things presumed about you don’t presume about others. My presumption however was based on what you ACTUALLY said. Your presumption was based on what was NOT said.
are you this sloppy teaching your child?
