Featured Term (selected at random):
The question of the validity of Anglican ordination to the priesthood was decided negatively by Pope Leo XIII in the document Apostolicae Curae (September 13, 1896). They were declared to be "absolutely null and utterly void" on the grounds of defect of form in the rite and defect of intention in the minister. Even if Rome had not made such a declaration, Anglican orders were still considered invalid in practice, since Anglican clergymen were required to be ordained to the priesthood when they entered the Catholic Church. Since Pope Leo XIII's declaration, not a few Anglicans have been ordained by Orthodox or other prelates whose orders were held to be valid by Rome. However, the current ordinal in the episcopal Church in the United States (and elsewhere) provides for two forms of ordination, at the choice of the candidate and the option of a bishop; one form is for the priesthood and the other for the nonsacerdotal ministry.
For those who are interested -- As far as I know, Anglican priests -- men only -- have to go back to take the Catholic theology courses before their ordinations as Catholic priests.

Catholic Word of the Day Ping!
Please send me a FReepmail if you would like to be on the Catholic Word of the Day Ping List.
I was told that I would be examined and then assigned courses of study in the areas where I was deficient.

That works for me, but then I know you pretty well.....LOL!
So glad to hear this. Prayers for you.
Well, I’m still not “in process”. They gave me that info in the sort of general info part of the conversation. Later on they decided they didn’t want to ordain me. Now everything is up in the air.
Wow ! How odd is that !!
I mean, what canonical reason(s) could there be to dissuade anyone from accepting you ?
The messages from Rome seemed really really straight forward, clear, definitive, etc.........
so not all is lovey dovey across the Tiber. Unfortunately, is this a surprise..........
I think it’s that, being the kind of guy who calls himself Mad Dawg and usually carries a pistol and at least one knife AND pepper spray, cuffs, rubber gloves and an artificial respiration mask, I don’t strike them as the priestly type. The guy said that if I’d come to him when I was young he would have recommended the Dominicans or the Jebbies. I take that as a compliment, especially since I am a lay Dominican.
In other words, it was stuff about ME that they didn’t like. And while I disagree, I can see that I am not your usual secular parish priest type o’ dude.
