Catholic Word of the Day: PRO ARMENIS, 11-25-09

Featured Term (selected at random):

PRO ARMENIS

A dogmatic decree of Pope Eugenius IV (November 22, 1439) addressed to the Armenians on the conditions for union with the Roman Catholic Church. Its most important feature is a lengthy declaration on the seven sacraments in general and on each one of them in particular. Among other provisions are the necessity of integral confession of sins for the sacrament of penance and the indissolubility of marriage.

Interesting term for me.

Now I'm wondering what the difference between a dogmatic decree and an encyclical are.

Dealing with dogma, to me, would out-rank an encyclical. More study required! -- LOL!
