Or someone is feeling a sense of guilty?

Thanks...I think Judith is fine enough...maybe a break will relax her.

I had lunch with my Catholic associate today...he surprisd me with a birthday thingie from our cute waitress and spoke on the phone with my Catholic cousin in Mississippi as did my wife with her’s here in Brentwood.

We're all Southern Baptist and get on fine with Southern Catholics...they get forgiven a hair less complicated than we do but hell I envy that.

I got nothing against them. Dang....I feel best in Charismatic service but I think all Christians are the same family....but some leadership is off the reservation...no doubt about that but not this Pope...at least not to me anyhow.

It's funny...I know there is a God and I have faith Christ was his son....all this chauvinism and battling denominations from both sides just doesn't make that much difference to me.

This ain't college football.

Dear Judith Anne,
There are so many here who would miss you. Obviously we have to avoid being lead into temptation and avoid the near occasion of sin. If the open religious threads are a source of negativity for you, you would be right to avoid them. But your soul and spirit can be nourished by participating on all the other threads. We certainly need you there. I hope you will consider it.

The hatred we see evidence of on this thread alone is nothing new. It has always been so. The Pharisees spoke in similar ways to Christ and you are united with Him in that. They feared and loathed the Truth. He warned us that we would suffer greatly by clinging to His words. Your stripes are beautiful to Him. Take comfort in that and offer it up. Turn the negativity the Pharisees spew into something good— for you AND for God.

I think Christ rather enjoyed making the Pharisees squirm, don’t you?

God bless you always,
M.

It would seem by your frustration that Jesus should have thrown in the towel too.

And I’m not even a Christian. But I know that The United States could not have been founded without his example.

"Chick is not allowed at all on the Religion Forum whether as a source or as a pejorative."

Yikes! I hope "dude" is cool...

I think (and hope) that what is being referred to is the name of a comic strip. It's highly bigoted and hateful towards anyone outside the artist's very narrow point of view and not at all conducive to a rational discussion.

Yes, it is the “comic” series. It is disallowed because it mongers hatred.

You raised my curiosity so I tracked down the offending party. If you ever looked at their position on Bible inerrancy you would quickly recognize that these guys are SECRET MOSLEMS.

Islam holds that the Koran is actually a metaphysical document kept in Heaven. Islam holds that it is pure and has no errors ~ unlike the Bible which has a lot of errors, etc.

To stay within the pale of Christianity you have to admit the influence of the Holy Spirit ~ Who guides us and inspires us. Their doctrine doesn't, which means, of course, they aren't Christian.

I think even the snake handlers in Alabama agree with me on that one.

Judith Anne, I'm a practicing Catholic who has been here for more than a decade. I don't frequent the religion threads much because I come here for political discussion and news but whenever I see attacks on Catholicism I defend the faith just like we here at my home defend life whenever and wherever we can.

I have never known Jim to show any anti Catholicism at all. So, I'm not getting why you're leaving. If you stay and you need a hand defending the faith just ping me, I have a thick skin and a penchant for fight.

Since the Torah was written by G-d before the Creation and dictated to Moses letter-for-letter, I think those people are on good solid ground. They should be Noachides.

I'm so happy God enjoyed those Ice Age stories about Lot ~ he passed them along so we could enjoy them as well.

The anti-Catholic and anti-Mormon bigots are far outnumbered by the majority of users here. However, the majority of users don’t seem to be bothered by the divisive, hateful religious bigotry displayed by a few here. If they are bothered by it, they rarely speak up about it. Wish that would change, but I’ve wished it for a long time and the bigotry continues unfettered by reason, common sense, civility, common courtesy, or the unity that needs to exist among conservatives if we are to come together and slow or stop the socialists and fascists that have taken over our country.

What ice age?

The story of Lot (like everything else in the Torah) is true. There is even a blessing composed by the Sages to be recited on seeing the pillar of salt that was once Lot's wife.

I suppose you believe all that virgin birth/resurrection/transubstantiation mumbo jumbo, hm?

Are you referring to the Sages who were in Noah’s boat ~ the one that was saved from being dashed against the rocks of Mount Ararat by the Great Fish?

Which Mormons? ~ Do you mean the three groups near Independence MO, or the one over in Vermillion County, Illinois. I know lots of folks speak critically of the Vermillion community.

Is that who you meant?
