Not a completely correct debate. As the article points out, the Lutherans do pray for the dead (Red, is the article correct?) and I'm pretty sure Anglicans do as well. Baptists, I don't know -- Mr. R, what's the norm for Baptists on this? Calvinists, Presbyterians as the article points out, definitely NOT, but what about Methodists?
secondly, it's more correctly an Apostolic Church belief, not just Catholic -- our Orthodox, Coptic, Armenian and Assyrian and Syriac brethern would also have similar beliefs as us CAtholics with regards to praying for the departed.
