That thread had NOTHING to do with an “unfortunate newcomer”.

Yes he was a newbie. And yes, the VK’S were out in full battle gear.

But.... The nature of the tread was not about the newbie.

It was about prayers to the Saints. And Blesseds.

And even though it was a CHAT thread. Some replies offended certain religious groups.

The newbie's post was a prayer request for someone with cancer and Alzheimer's.

It was derailed into a theological dispute because he requested prayers to a particular saint or blessed person.

No debate of any kind is allowed on prayer or devotional threads on the Religion Forum because: (1) it is unseemly, reflecting poorly on the forum, and (2) it is heartless to one seeking prayer or wanting to express his devotion, and (3) it fosters resentments which later erupt into flame wars.
