Whatever happened to the Mayans? No one knows. To this day, it’s a mystery.

Actually, it's not. The Mayans are still alive, in the regions of Mexico like Chiapas. Many still live as per ancient ways but many are Catholics.

The Maya never disappeared, they just abandoned their big cities. The downfall of a few are known (war, famine etc), the downfall of the other cities seem to be due to diseases or changes in climate.

the Mayan language survives.
