Professor Ellen van Wolde, described as "a respected Old Testament scholar and author" in the London Telegraph, claims the first sentence of Genesis "In the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth" is not a true translation of the Hebrew. "She claims she has carried out fresh textual analysis that suggests the writers of the great book never intended to suggest that God created the world and in fact the Earth was already there when he created humans and animals," the report says.
How this little morsel has eluded scholars for the past 3,000 years was not explained...

Read the opening of the Gospel of John.
Thank you. Good night.
Right on and God Bless...Night.
Oh, I see. The earth created itself. Either that, or the earth is eternal.
To believe THAT is sensible and intelligent and oh so reasonable, I guess. But to believe God created the earth, or that God is eternal, is lunacy. To carry the authoress’ illogic to its conclusions.
The whole point is (from both perspectives: atheist’s and believer’s): “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” Psalms 11:3
The atheists know this. The foundation of the whole Word of God, of our entire faith, is Genesis. That is why above all the atheists attack Genesis day after day. That is their job. The believer’s job is to defend it.
God created the Heaven
(9.2 billion years)
and the Earth
(4 billion years)
and Trilobites.
Yes, and debating atheists is not an easy task. They fight like trapped animals. LOL
If you want to believe that you rose from a campbells soup that’s just hunky dory but I come from the children of Adam who was created by God.
Wasn’t my point, since I believe God created trilobites.
Actually meant to put ellipsis after trilobites.
How long is a day?
A. 24 hours
B. 48 hours (Joshua 10:13)
C. 1000 years (2 Peter 3:8)
D. All of the above
There in nothing wrong with the computer between your ears. It is your agenda that prevents you from thinking clearly. Change your motivation and good sense will begin to seep in.
Don’t let young earth be the straitjacket that geocentrism once was.
True science should lead to scripture but scripture does not necessarily lead to science because of fallacies of interpretation.
Oh I think the earth itself may be old. This creation, since Adam, is about 6000 years old.
You are confining yourself with the definition of “day”. There are many “days” i.e Creative day, solar day, lunar day etc. There are also days without defined parameters used in expressions of time i.e. “In my fathers “day”.. or “back in the “day”..
I believe that the translation (or one of them) for “day” is “period”, or “era”. I don’t know, but the Creation story sounds pretty similar to the “Big Bang” theory.
Well, that just ends all discussion then doesn’t it? No need to say more, THE VAN WOLDE has spoken.
The time is not too far off when all the liars and doubters will be put to shame and removed from us forever. Man had his chance for 6000 years. Now it’s time for a rest in the sabbath millenium.
Certainly God never created liberals - a species so bizarre even for God. They must be the creation of lucifer....or that sham-wow dude.
This is dumb.
She must have a book to sell and needs to get her name in the paper for a bit of free publicity. Ho Hum.
