This should get interesting.

Just a word of advice, when the really hateful smears of the Blessed Mother start coming in be sure to ask for citations of any quotes.

Pope John Paul II clearly had an endless devotion and love for Our Lady and never ceased to remind us of the reasons why the Catholic Church promotes true devotion to Our Blessed Mother, as well as the important and necessity.

Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us!

I don’t understand why you made this an Ecumenical thread. Any thread dealing with Catholic devotion to Mary is going to have those who spurn Mary as being no more than a vessel salivating to attack. It will have those who love Mary as the Mother of Christ claiming we Catholics worship her and made her a 4th member of the Trinity.

That being said, ...
“ Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners. Now and at the hour of our death.”

Here's how we say it, and you can bet its power is awe inspiring!

"Mother of God and Virgin, rejoice, Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, for thou hast given birth to the Savior of our souls."

Mary’s generosity in bringing her Son to us and us to Him is truly remarkable. In a way I can’t get upset with those who don’t see it because even when I see it I find it hard to believe!

Good timing for me! Last week’s RCIA Tuesday night class was about the rosary. A lovely woman from our parish made a special rosary for each of us candidates. It’s a hobby of her’s, each one was unique. I do very much enjoy praying it, quite soothing.

Thank you for posting this thread. I set about mowing the lawn (a big lawn — former pasture) this afternoon and donned my headphones to drown out the noise of the mower and to listen to Relevant Radio. The program this afternoon was all about the Rosary and we all said it many times during my 2-3 hours of mowing and examined the prayer up and down and backwards & forwards. What a wonderful afternoon it became.

For anyone within sound of Relevant Radio, I encourage you to tune in. If your geographic location does not permit it, you can listen on line. Marvelous, spiritual programming. And if you find it helpful to your spiritual growth, please send them a few bucks.

I once owned a book that a collection of beautiful accounts of Mary’s intercession. I have since lost the book unfortunately, but remember one of my favorite stories; it goes...

There was once a family who had the habit of saying “Hail Mary’ upon entering their house and leaving their house. This family owned a parrot of some sort, who then learned the prayer. One day, a bird of prey came in and swooped the bird up and in its talons took off. The parrot in a panic yelled “Hail Mary Hail Mary” and the bird of prey died on the spot and the parrot regained his freedom.

I love this story!!!!
