the Queen, who is the Supreme Governor of the C of E, is "also said to have an affinity with the Holy Father, who is of her generation".

They even fought against each other in the same world war ;-)

The Church of England has a very “tolerant” attitude toward Islam. I think the Queen has caught on.

Since the Queen is the head of the C of E, she has the power to do something directly. Apparently, she is reluctant to use the power she has.

The Queen could truly light a fire under a lot of bottoms if she were to make a very, very carefully worded diplomatic statement mentioning the Catholic church, the CofE, and the word “reconciliation”.

It would have about the same impact if she said that “Brussels can go bugger off.”

The then Bishop of Rochester, Dr Michael Nazir-Ali, called on homosexuals to repent. He said the Church of England must stick to the Biblical teaching that marriage should only be between a man and a woman.

That opinion, apparently, makes him a "homophobe".

Here's my definition of the word: "Homophobe" = "anyone who is in any way not entirely and totally supportive of anything the gay lobby wants".

Maybe the Queen is thinking of her coronation oath:

The Archbishop of Canterbury: "Will you to the utmost of your power maintain the Laws of God and the true profession of the Gospel? Will you to the utmost of your power maintain in the United Kingdom the Protestant Reformed Religion established by law? Will you maintain and preserve inviolable the settlement of the Church of England, and the doctrine, worship, discipline, and government thereof, as by law established in England? ...

The Queen: "All this I promise to do. The things which I have here before promised, I will perform, and keep. So help me God."
