Having no knowledge of the references you cite, I would have to investigate them before giving them any weight whatsoever.

For some reason, I doubt that.

As a whole, LDS are more Christ like, then those who claim we aren’t.

Christ’s website.. lds.org ..not just because it’s the only one with his “picture”

Well welcome, n00b, to the Religion forum of Free Republic.

ROFL...Being a “good person” does not make a person a Christian, accepting Christ ALONE for your salvation (exaltation to the LDS) and placing your trust in HIM (not a prophet, not a denomination, not a set of rules, not make up books like the Book of Abraham and the Book of Mormon) is what makes a person a Christian.

The LDS deny the Biblical views of the person, work and nature of Jesus Christ. They denigrate His sacrifice on the Cross, and sing praises to Joesph Smith (”Praise to the Man”).

Having the name “Jesus Christ” in the name of your church doesn’t make you a Christian anymore than painting “auto repairs” on the side of your garage makes you an auto mechanic.

And Christ has a “website”, ROFLAICGU! Christ doesn’t need a website.

The LDS do more to lead people AWAY from Christ than to Him. The bind people up in all of these false rites and rules and encourage pride and self-righteousness. The LDS sit there in their pews on Sunday and recite their mantras “I know the church is true...” and pat each other on the backs about how only THEY have the “truth”.

Been there, done that, read the book, saw the movie, wore the garments.

Would Christ’s true church exclude anyone from salvation? No!

- - - - - - -
Ummm...guess again. For starters....

Matt 22:14 (NIV) - “For many are invited, but few are chosen.”

Matt 7:13-14 (NIV) - “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

Matt 7:21-23 (NIV) - “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

First of all, why would Adam need a "plan of salvation" if the most prestigious Mormon university is named after somebody who taught for over 25 years that "Adam is God???"

... Elsie said it in a simple nutshell about three months ago: Logically; this is IMPOSSIBLE, for all of the NAMES of these people are NOT accessable and will NEVER be accessable. THEREFORE; the MORMONic ritual of Baptism for the Dead is a definite FALSE teaching.

Sigh...

You poor, misguided ANTI!

Do you NOT know that GOD now knows EXACTLY all of these peoples names and do you NOT know that HE reveals things to His Prophets and do you NOT know that The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints© is the ONLY group that has a Living Prophet® and do you NOT know that in the future GOD will reveal these names to him and then they will be affirmed unanimously by the Quorum of Twelve and then they'll be distributed to Temples around the world and then we Temple Worthy recommend holders will be baptised for those dead folks whose names GOD only knows and then the End will come?

This is how I understand it anyway - it could change.)

  -- without also getting riled up @ Hinckley --

THIS is why!!!

"Any Latter-day Saint who denounces or opposes, whether actively or otherwise, any plan or doctrine advocated by the 'prophets, seers, and revelators' of the Church is cultivating the spirit of apostacy..."
(Improvement Era, June 1945, p. 354)

Reinforced here......

MP3 File

This is the audio clip of Dallin H. Oaks, current Mormon Apostle leader, from the PBS documentary, "The Mormons", declaring unequivocally:

"IT'S WRONG TO CRITICIZE LEADERS OF THE (MORMON) CHURCH, EVEN IF THE CRITICISM IS TRUE."

Don't criticize?

And here:

Temple Recommend Questions:

 1 Do you have faith in and a testimony of God the Eternal Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost?

 2 Do you have a testimony of the Atonement of Christ and of His role as Savior and Redeemer?

 3 Do you have a testimony of the restoration of the gospel in these the latter days?

 4 Do you sustain the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the Prophet, Seer, and Revelator and as the only person on the earth who possesses and is authorized to exercise all priesthood keys? Do you sustain members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as prophets, seers, and revelators? Do you sustain the other General Authorities and local authorities of the Church?

 5 Do you live the law of chastity?

 6 Is there anything in your conduct relating to members of your family that is not in harmony with the teachings of the Church?

 7 Do you support, affiliate with, or agree with any group or individual whose teachings or practices are contrary to or oppose those accepted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

 8 Do you strive to keep the covenants you have made, to attend your sacrament and other meetings, and to keep your life in harmony with the laws and commandments of the gospel?

 9 Are you honest in your dealings with your fellowmen?

10 Are you a full-tithe payer?

11 Do your keep the Word of Wisdom?

12 Do you have financial or other oblgations to a former spouse or children? If yes, are you current in meeting those obligations?

13 If you have previously received your temple endowment:

     Do you keep the covenants that you made in the temple?

     Do you wear the garment both night and day as instructed in the endowment and in accordance with the covenant you made in the temple?

14 Have there been any sins or misdeeds in your life that should have been resolved with priesthood authorities but have not been?

15 Do you consider yourself worthy to enter the Lord's house and participate in temple ordinances?

Oh, they can say that their leaders were NOT speaking for GOD when they said ___WHATEVER__ but that's NOT the same as criticizing!

( Remember fellow Christians:  the Mormon's criticize US because they've been taught that they CAN'T criticize ANY of their leaders; so they HAVE to vent somehow! )

They denigrate His sacrifice on the Cross, and sing praises to Joesph Smith (”Praise to the Man”).

Say the Magic Word and win EXALTATION!

Praise to the Man!

Praise to the man who communed with Jehovah!
Jesus annointed that Prophet and Seer.
Blessed to open the last dispensation,
Kings shall extol him, and nations revere.

Chorus
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven!
Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain.
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren;
Death cannot conquer the hero again.

Praise to his mem'ry, he died as a martyr;
Honored and blest be his ever great name!
Long shall his blood, which was shed by assasins,
Plead unto heav'n while the earth lauds his fame.

Chorus
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven!
Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain.
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren;
Death cannot conquer the hero again.

Great is his glory and endless his priesthood.
Ever and ever the keys he will hold.
Faithful and true he will enter his kingdom,
Crowned in the midst of the prophets of old.

Chorus
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven!
Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain.
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren;
Death cannot conquer the hero again.

Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven;
Earth must atone for the blood of that man.
Wake up the world for the conflict of justice.
Millions shall know 'Brother Joseph' again.

Chorus
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven!
Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain.
Mingling with
Gods
, he can plan for his brethren;
Death cannot conquer the hero again.

Dear Brother Sniv,

You state:

it is we (rather Christ) who are the ONLY ones with a plan of salvation which covers every inhabitant of this world from Adam/Eve to the last born at the end of the millennium. Whether living now on earth, or now in heavens.

Mormons have a plan to save those already in "heavens"?

Presumably they were granted access there by God, but
Mormons know better and need to save them?
How awesome.

That Smith feller sure gots moxy.

My favorite faith promoting rumor when I was LDS was that “so and so” did their genealogy ALL the way back to Adam.

ROFL. And I heard this from several different people.

I pointed out to one of them that this was impossible, that at a minimum...

1) birth and death records were not kept for most of history.

2) the linguistic barriers even if they had been.
3) many cultures that did not keep any type of written records and the earliest written records are always economical rather than biographical.

4) and then the names of those who existed before the invention of writing.

He just kept responding, “well I KNOW they did and I have a testimony it is possible”.

Eyeroll.

It will never be possible.

- - — - -
They used to not be able to. The masons changed it in the 1980’s, IIRC to allow Mormons.

One of my ancestors was an Episcopal priest and an ardent anti-Mormon. According to his diaries, he was one of the ones who kicked JS out of the Masonic lodge.

JS also associated with several anti-masons at the same time as stealing their ceremonies.

“[There is] no salvation without accepting Joseph Smith. If Joseph Smith was verily a prophet, and if he told the truth...no man can reject that testimony without incurring the most dreadful consequences, for he cannot enter the kingdom of God
- Prophet Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, v. 1, p. 190

Please make note and post accordingly in the future brother niv. Otherwise, having been informed, you will be violating the 9th commandment.

Not just the 9th, but the 1st as well.
