Apologies for the missing graphic.

From Wikipedia

Mary Ramerman is one of the founders of the Spiritus Christi sect in Rochester, New York. Ramerman, a Californian and convert to Catholicism from Methodism who wished to become a Catholic priest, was encouraged by Rev. James Callan, who was serving as Administrator of Corpus Christi parish in Rochester, New York, to migrate to his parish to join the staff.

[edit] Excommunication

After several years of controversy, in 1998 Diocese of Rochester Bishop Matthew Clark transferred Rev. Callan from Corpus Christi Church, in order to bring the parish back into line (under the orders of the head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI). A group of Corpus Christi Church members then started a new community which seceded from the Roman Catholic Church under the leadership of Ramerman and others, and Callan shortly joined them in the "New Faith Community" as it was called until it took on the permanent name of "Spiritus Christi Church" in August, 1999. Both Ramerman and Callan were declared to have excommunicated themselves (excommunication latae sententiae) by the Bishop.

A few years later, the community invited Bishop Peter Hickman from the Old Catholic Church in California to ordain Mary Ramerman as a Catholic priest on November 17, 2001 at Rochester's Eastman Theatre, and later on February 22, 2003 he returned to ordain Denise Donato a Catholic priest at the historic Hochstein music hall. Spiritus Christi Church recently celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2008. Ramerman continues to serve the community to this day.

15 or 20 years down the line, these churches (along with a certain magazine) will have found a new home in an Episcopal communion modelled on the American Episcopal Church (TEC)

I doubt they will be around in twenty years. Most euro churches survive now only because of the aged faithful. Once they die off, few will be interested enough to bother taking their places. These women in their funny clothes will end up being government social workers.

Roman Catholics aren't the only ones that wrestle with this issue. The cry for women priest is based upon a secular or worldly understanding of equality, and not upon a theological foundation. Most “conservative” denominations that allow women priests/pastors because have an anemic understanding of the office. They tend to see everything in terms of function and utility rather than an as a participation in Christ's office. A woman priest is an ecclesiastical version of same sex marriage. The Bridegroom is now a woman.

These people are not religious. They are anti-religion.

I don’t know what all you Catholics are fussing about. The ordination of women priests has worked out so well in the Episcopal Church. /sarc

If you don’t like the rules, find another church.

Hiding the “stealth” “priestesses” in plain sight. Yeah, not so sure about that strategy.

the surviving church, i sometimes think, won't resemble the church as we know it today.

It would be just like God to do that.
