Hellbender, thanks for bringing this up!
*Ping*
This is a Ping-List for reports of persecution against Christians. Please message me or reply if you would like to be added.
“Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.” Matthew 5:10-11
“But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you...” Matthew 5:44
BTTT. VOM has made a great difference in my faith. I had a set of cassette tapes (dark ages ...) from one of their first conferences, and the speakers were very impressive.
I am astounded at the heroism of VOM personnel, and of the persecuted believers they seek to help. We in America are so fortunate (so far). To whom much is given, much is expected; I think we are obligated to help our brothers and sisters in more dangerous environments.
I donate to them generously, and I keep the newsletters out in my house for my kids and guests to read. It was unreal, at first, to learn what people experience in other countries. I named my youngest daughter (now 9) Sabina, after Mrs. Wurmbrand!
We are very fortunate, but we need to learn from those who are being persecuted now, so that we can show the same overcoming faith when the persecution comes here.
