CINCINNATI
The archbishop of the Cincinnati Archdiocese has banned a nun from teaching at parishes and institutions because she supports the ordination of women as priests.
Church officials said Wednesday that Archbishop Daniel Pilarczyk made the decision after Sister of Charity Louise Akers refused to publicly renounce her support for a position the Vatican considers a violation of church teaching.
Akers has taught in the archdiocese for 40 years. She says she refused to renounce her support of women priests as a matter of conscience.
Archdiocese spokesman Dan Andriacco says that the church principle is that someone teaching in the name of the church should be in accord with its teachings.
Erin Saiz Hanna, executive of the Women’s Ordination Conference, described the teaching ban as bullying.

She'll probably be offered a job with the Obama administration, she seems to be the sort of "Catholic" he likes.
Give me a break. Quit your whining and go start your own church.
God Bless Archbishop Daniel Pilarczyk >
Good decision.

Agreed.
Defrock- immediately
She can join the dull and wishywashy Episcopalian Church.
Why are women not allowed to be priests, technically?
I mean, what is the original reason for this?
Ping to #10.
Either Jesus gave the Church the authority to bind and loose or he didn’t. She can’t have it both ways.
It’s like asking, why can only women have babies?
Men and women have distinct roles that are complementary to one another. If we look in scripture we see that a husband is given authority over his wife particularly in the spiritual direction of his family. It is his obligation to ensure that those within his household are following God.
This is why the role for men in the church is similar, to preside over the sacraments, to preach and to guide their parish towards Christ.
Women have many roles, they can sing, they can teach children, they run many of the functions in the parish and their own missions and activities. You can’t run a church if you only give roles and duties to the women and not the men. The men need their place too.
persicely
May I suggest a general perusal of the Bible...
You won’t have to look hard or long.
At the most basic level, the answer to the question is simple: The New Testament priesthood is the priesthood of Christ Himself. All men who, through the Sacrament of Holy Orders, have become priests (or bishops) participate in Christ's priesthood. And they participate in it in a very special way: They act in persona Christi Capitis, in the person of Christ, the Head of His Body, the Church. Since Jesus was a male, only men can fulfill this function.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church (para. 1577) states:
"Only a baptized man (vir) validly receives sacred ordination." The Lord Jesus chose men (viri) to form the college of the twelve apostles, and the apostles did the same when they chose collaborators to succeed them in their ministry. The college of bishops, with whom the priests are united in the priesthood, makes the college of the twelve an ever-present and ever-active reality until Christ's return. The Church recognizes herself to be bound by this choice made by the Lord himself. For this reason the ordination of women is not possible.
bwahahahahahaha
My wife had this nun as a teacher in high school (Seton High School Catholic Girls Cincinnati) over 30 years ago and she was preaching women as priests back then. This is church politics.... and is a shame. She has been doing this overtly for 40 years.
From the Cincinnati Enquirer:
“The archbishop’s decision to discipline Akers comes as Vatican officials begin an “apostolic visitation” that will study the practices of women’s religious orders in the United States to ensure they adhere to church law.”

My guess is that she was retiring anyway... and Pilarczyk needed an atta boy.
The MSM thinks the Catholic Church should act Episcopalian. They hated John Paul II and the new Pope, Benedict XVI.
