Here is an excellent video on Jesus' words in John 6 and the Catholic teaching on the Eucharist.
Sunday, August 16, 2009: Liturgy Reflection from JP Catholic University on Vimeo.
These videos are extremely well-done!
The video is very well done except they need a presenter with a better “broadcast” voice. He sounds really whiney. To be fair, so do I in a recording of this type.
He states my position at :45.
He quotes the Catholic church as a source a lot more than the Bible as text source.
His explanation of John 6:55 ignores that it is in the whole context of “man does not live by bread alone, but by every word...”. He is saying that we need more than “physical food”.
Th whole eucharist thing is comical - if it were not so serious. For starters, one should not be obsessing about eating the actual body and blood of Christ, especially without the nutritional information label.
He was all about the spiritual. This is all about the spiritual. There are huge implications in his use of the words “do this in remembrance of me”. It is a symbol. A reminder.
But I am not going to obsess about it. Unlike prophesy and other things, it is not covered over and over in the bible. It is pretty simple and relatively concisely covered.
I wish I could watch them, but can’t bring them up on my computer.
