>>Psalm 23:6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. <<
So in heaven, forever means after a break? So like God can get His act together and then those whose earthly bodies die sit circling in a holding pattern until “He comes again”
Do you understand that God is not on “Earthtime”? He is eternal, and doesn’t look at a calendar?
Ever hear of "Queen of Heaven"? The Roman Catholic Church has elevated her to godhood.
Correct! Since the Catholic Church never proclaimed Mary as a deity or anything close for that matter, then we have agreement again.
ibid. Mary has been proclaimed by the Roman Catholic Church as being without sin (Catechism 411, 493). She is also place as co-mediator with Christ (Catechism 968-970, 2677).
Are you the sole arbiter of when expressions of love and honor rise to the level of idolization?
No, never said I was. I was merely giving my interpretation of a scene I have seen many times.
I love my wife to the degree that I would DIE for her. Tell me, do I worship my wife?
By definition, yes. But I am not suggesting you rely on her for your salvation or that you pray to her.
What a bold misinterpretation of my words!
But mindreading is not permitted on the Religion Forum...which is no big loss, since you’re not very good at it anyway.
“Just your own personal interpretation of Scripture” is my way of saying “Just your own personal interpretation of Scripture.” Your attempt to jam your lesser words into my mouth has failed.
>>I was a catholic, my entire family were and most still are catholics, ask them what the immaculate conception is and that is what theyll tell you. Ask them if theyre going to heaven and they say yes, ask why, and they say Im a good person everytime .... It speaks for itself ...<<
So you hang with the uneducated. I’m sorry.
Some Lutherans retain Luther’s Marian beliefs, some don’t.
That's Mary, Mother of God.
The Catholic Church has elevated her to godhood.
Completely false. Exodus 20:16 seems to mean nothing to you.
None of that is deification. All of it is misinterpreted and distorted by enemies of the Church.
No, I’m quite educated now, found out the true gospel in my early 30’s and no longer a catholic.
hmm, they must backslid then
Who is bacslid, my family? The catholics, you’re not making any sense?
Dontcha know?
And this is racism.
Not you.
The Catholics you refer to.
They have no clue about Catholic teachings. That’s a pity.
We do.
...always the Catholics fighting and bickering about Mary...
Fighting about her with those who tell lies about her and what we believe about her and how she is involved in our Church.
You are your own worst enemy ....
Really? Why? Because some of us step up to vigorously refute these falsehoods?
That's roughly like saying "just lie back, try to enjoy it."
>>I don’t get it, always the Catholics fighting and bickering about Mary?<<
Did you see that it was a NON-Catholic that posted this thread?
I'm not sure about that. He specifically called Simon "the Rock," and I don't think He meant that Simon would henceforth be a professional wrestling champion.
I give up, I left the cult long ago and was set free by the truth of the Gospel, Christ was the only one who was sinless period. You wan to think otherwise and pray to others that’s your business, I shouldn’t have poked my nose into this thread, I knew better but did it anyway, uggh !!!
Nailed it
Excellent point. I am sure Dwayne Johnson will have some splainin' to do...
And it seems to me that is ample honor for anyone - all the justification needed to call her “blessed”!
But when a woman tried to focus attention on Mary as special, Jesus replied, Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.
That is the point the Protestants are trying to make. If you wish to believe in the Assumption - well, it neither says yea or nay in Scripture, and I have no personal knowledge, so believe as you wish. I would say the same to the Orthodox - where scripture is silent, believe as you wish and let God teach us on His schedule.
Unfortunately, your church claims I MUST believe in something not mentioned in scripture, nor by anyone during the first 4-500 years, or risk damnation.
Mary was chosen to be the vessel of birth for God - what more honor does anyone need? But OUR focus should be on God, and obeying Him. As we draw close to God, we will draw closer together.
