God does fix people and yes you are responsible for your actions.

God usually prefers less draconian measure than lopping off someone’s hands during the night or a lifetime of lockjaw. But God can definitely chastise when necessary.

God’s preferred mode of operation is to change the heart not the hands or the tongue.

God has taken murderers, adulterers, fornicators, thieves, harlots, and others and turned them into biblical heroes of faith.

Sometimes change can come quickly, but most times, it takes years of preparation for the fruit of the Spirit to manifest and someone to begin to resemble Christ in their actions. Man is so depraved, that he often doesn’t recognize his own depravity.

Mature Christians often find God showing them areas in their lives and attitudes that have been problems for years. God talks about babes in Christ needing milk instead of meat, referring to the levels of doctrine. Many Christians become choked with the cares of living this life that they don’t grow and don’t produce fruit.

God talks about some Christians who have their works destroyed, but they are still saved, “though as a man running from a house on fire”.

Many people think that if they are “better than average”, say a little closer to Mother Teresa than Adolf Hitler, they will be ok. That’s not true. The problem is that God is Holy. He knows no sin. In scripture He says to us “Be Holy for I am Holy.” and “Be perfect for I am perfect”. You can’t stand before a perfect Holy God with even one sin in your life and expect to live.

Worse, once you’ve sinned, there’s usually not anything you can do to correct it. There is no good you can do, to balance out the sin. Because if you knew it was good, then it is only what you should have done anyway.

Fortunately, God stepped in and offered us a pardon, by paying the penalty for sin for us. That’s why Jesus hung on the cross. That pardon is not forced on you, and if you don’t take advantage of it, then you will be judged based on your actions. And since God has already said there is no one righteous, you will go down in flames. Rejecting the pardon is not recommended.

Christians have had their past, present and future sins forgiven. But that doesn’t mean they don’t struggle against their old nature and continue to sin. But if they have really accepted Jesus, then sin should cause them turmoil. It can make them miserable until they deal with it.

And God doesn’t always bail us out when we sin. Sometimes sin has it’s own reward. Thieving and lying can come back to bite you. And God might punish them directly. But for their sakes, I hope he turns their heart before needing to do that.

And for your sake, I hope you give God a chance to work in your life.

My entire life's hope and faith is in the fact that Jesus Christ died for my dirty rotten sins, past, present and future, and He has paid the price of admission to heaven for me and is in the process of conforming me into His image (thank God for His patience and perseverance). In believing, I have life in His name. Without that, I am nothing.
