He may not be that evil YET, but satan may enter him at some point and anoint him for the job. Don’t know if it’s him either but he’s a candidate.

Exactly. This idea of a civilian military is too reminiscent of Hitler’s brownshirts. Brrr.

I truly hope the joke’s not on them if they think the Eucharist will save them.

You do know Catholics believe the Eucharist is the REAL PRESENCE of Christ. To a Catholic, to say the Eucharist won't save you is the equivalent of saying Christ can't save you. I know it's difficult for Protestants to understand what the Eucharist means to Catholics, but try to show some respect for what we believe. I respect the fact that Cedar is correct that Christ is our savior; we differ only in that we believe Christ asks us to eat His body and that this is more than just a metaphor.

Also, you should know by now that Catholics do not hold that only Catholics go to Heaven. Protestants are considered to be part of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church, but no in full communion with the Church -- which is objectively true since Protestant Reformers ex-communicated themselves by their own choice, yet we share most of the fundamental beliefs in Christianity.

God bless.

He’s more than evil enough, regardless.

I realize I am coming late to this thread, but I could not let this one go by unmarked. The verse assignments in the New Testament were made in the Sixteenth century by a Protestant scholar named William Whittingham. It follows that they are a modern imposition on the text and can have no doctrinal significance whatsoever.

Of course I know that. But think about it: if anybody can take seriously that John's Revelation is a prophecy about an anti-Christ who would be a future President of the United States and take it with any level of seriousness, then it is not a real big stretch to also presume that John's prophecy includes Divinely inspired prophecy that the Number of the Beast, 666, would correspond to the current Chapter 6, Verse 66, in the Gospel of John. The latter makes more sense than the former. But, as I stated, what I said should be considered as wild speculation.

"I am that bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This [Himself] is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.

"I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."

The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"

Then Jesus said unto them, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed [real meat], and my blood is drink indeed [real blood]. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.. As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.

"This [Himself] is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever."

These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, "This is an hard saying; who can hear it?"

When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, "Doth this offend you? What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you that believe not." For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.

And he said, "Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father." From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

Then said Jesus unto the twelve, "Will ye also go away?"

Then Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God."

[John 6:48-69]

We differ on this issue. For many of us, the End Times began with the Incarnation, but thanks for your explanation. At least I understand what you are saying.

Catholics have a different understanding of Revelation than many Protestants. We reject premillenialist eschatology as in error, based on major inconsistencies in Scripture. If you take premillenialist theories and try to uniformally apply them to the Book of Revelation as a whole, they do not work very well to make sense of the text in its entirety, and there are verses that directly contradict a premillenialist view. For more info, see here.

About a month ago, I posted an article on this, but there was no much discussion on it. If I see another good article along these lines, I will post it for discussion.

If there is or was an anti-Christ in modern times, it would have been Nietszche, who loudly proclaimed he was the anti-Christ, even wrote a book with that title, and rejected Christ--yet has had a profound influence on the West. It is difficult to identify a more influential thinker in recent history than Nietzsche.

Sarkozy’s father is from the Carpathian Mt. region in Europe. So, he could be Nicolai of Carpathia. Lots of other interesting things about that chap too.

Nietsche couldn’t have been the anti-Christ. Prophecy has different warnings and signs which we need to be following now, not many years ago.

We believe Jesus was talking about a spiritual experience, not the actual eating of his blood and body. Do this IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME, which we do. We don’t believe we’re actually eating his blood and body but doing it because He told us to. It was quite a concept and I can understand why some of his followers left.

No kiddng he isn’t smart enough. The whole point is that the guy who becomes antichrist, Satan gives to him his full power (that includes intelligence). Satan is incredibly smart and full of knowledge. Whoever is the antichirst, would never know or be able to tap that intelligence on his own, it is given to him.

Think what a joke Hitler was, how did a guy like that almost take over the world and wipe out millions of people? Not with his own intelligence. He was a precursor of the real antichrist.

Yes, I do know Catholics feel that way. I have no problem with them believing anything they want as long as it doesn’t substitute for the saving power of Jesus on the cross. No, we don’t believe that Christ is in the Eucharist except to remember Him and take it in remembrance of Him. We don’t believe there’s anything mystical about the wafer. As long as we have received Jesus Christ into our lives by our own choice...that’s what matters.

Thanks.

Heavenly Father, please show each one what we must do NOW to prepare for the dark and difficult times that are coming.

Please give us wisdom.

Please help us to overcome to the end.

I ask You this in the Name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who is the Savior of the world.

“This thread is one of the occasional reasons I think FR (or segments of it) is “jumping the shark” these days.

It can get downright embarrassing. And make us look like a bunch of idiots to outsiders considering signing up. Sheesh. “

That’s how I feel when I see the “Obama snubbed by the Russians!” threads.

Personally, I find this kind of stuff funny. It’s amazing how people can stretch their minds to support their fears and feelings.

I find Obama scary because he’s a commie nut, but we’ve had plenty of commie nuts on this planet. They’ve all caused horrific death and destruction. I can see why people would attribute this to the big “D”, but we don’t even have to go there to be worried. All we need is a basic knowledge of history.

For those who don't want to waste their time with YouTube, here's the Cliffs Notes version of the uncredited video:

And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning falling from the heavens
-- Luke 10:18

I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High
-- Isaiah 14:12-19

Jesus spoke Luke 10:18 in Aramaic, which is the most ancient form of Hebrew.

The words for lightning and heights, according to Strong's Hebrew Dictionary:

Strong's word 1299: baraq
A primitive root; to lighten (lightning) -- cast forth

Strong's word 1300: baraq
From baraq; lightning; by analogy, a gleam; concretely, a flashing sword -- bright, glitter(-ing sword), lightning

Strong's word 1116: bamah
From an unused root (meaning to be high); an elevation -- height, high, place, wave.

"WAW" used as a Hebrew conjunction of ideas, transliterated as a "U" or an "O"

Thus, the phrase "Lightning from Heaven" = "Baraq O Bamah"

If Luke 10:18 were spoken by a Jewish rabbi today, and was influenced by the poetry of Isaiah, he would say these words in Hebrew: I saw Satan as Baraq O Bamah.

End of video disclaimer:
This film is not to DECLARE that BHO is the antichrist. it is only a statement of fact concerning the use of certain Hebrew words in relation to the words of Jesus. The correlations are striking. Thus, the production of this film.

With that said, St. John in the Book of Revelations identifies the number of the beast as "666."

How incredibly ignorant of the Holy Word of G-d !
NAsbU Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him
to show to His bond-servants, the things which must soon take place;
and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John,
You apparently have never read nor
understood verse one of the Book of Revelation.

May you seek YHvH and his salvation,
who has revealed Himself in His Word
and not in the traditions of man.

Isn't it interesting that members of the Roman church
believe that the G-d who created the universe resides
in a piece of matzoh.

However thy reject the Feast Day that He re-celebrated
with this matzoh and reject His command to remember this Feast Day.

I am at a loss to understand the impugning
of the Holy Word of G-d in favor of the traditions of man.

NAsbU Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must soon take place; and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John,

If you are confident in your knowledge of the scripture, present the facts, and you have then no need to boast about who is "ignorant" of the scriptures. The facts will speak for themselves.

That which was "soon" to take place was the destruction of the Temple in 70 A.D.-- a decisive event in the First Jewish-Roman war.

when Jerusalem was destroyed in A.D. 70, it was an act of God's judgment and fulfilled the prophecies that Christ spoke of in His Olivet Discourse recorded in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21. This event signaled the Second Coming of the Messiah as well, spiritually.

The Book of Revelation does not have predictive value in the way premillenialists claim it does. Its predictions have already come to pass, when God judged Israel for their rejection of the Messiah, so that He was made to completely and finally break from them and their rebellious ways. Consequently, it is the Church which has come to replace Israel as the chosen people.
