Thank you, bdeaner!
I went to Mass tonight and felt such peace. We read passages from the Old Testament and New Testament that are foreshadowing the Eucharist.
How great is God that He put so many signs and symbols into the history of His Church so that as many people as possible would recognize the truth of the Good News. Every time Christ miraculously fed a crowd, He was moving the Apostles toward understanding the Last Supper.

Thank YOU!
Yes, Ephesians 4:1-6, "one body and one spirit," is from one of the readings from St. Paul. This led me to a reflection on the Church, and to the "four marks" discussed in this article. I did a little Googling, and here was this very nice essay on the topic.
In the readings, the account of the loaves and fishes in John 6 is linked up with Ephesians, and the thematic link is clear enough: The Church is bound together by the Eucharistic feast -- it is the Body of Christ that we are, and which we celebrate by partaking of the Lord's Body and Blood, that forms the dimensions of the Church, which is Christ's instrumental means of salvation on earth -- salvation, that is, both in terms of our justification through Baptism and sanctification through perpetual participation in the sacraments. Wonderful, wonderful!
