I recall a priest telling of being called to the deathbed of an elderly woman he did not know. He had ministered to her once, she spent her life saying a daily rosary for him. He knew God blessed him throughout his life, his ministry soared. He knew then who to thank for God’s tremendous grace. It was a touching story.
Wonderful story. I think we will be truly astonished when the Poor Souls in Purgatory that we have prayed for come to meet us at the moment of our death.
It would certainly be true of priests too. I was praying for my priest recently when the strangest prayer came to my mind — that of having his car stop in the area he was for a family reunion. That didn’t exactly happen, but he was delayed — his flight was re-scheduled. God answers our prayers in strange ways sometimes.
