At what point do Rapture-chasers stop speculating about every possible scenario that could tenuously fit their misguided misapprehension of 1 Thess. 4 and the verses that allegedly support their take on it? At what point will they do this and start helping the rest of us push back the nefarious forces that nearly encircle us already? A case can be made that there are so many otherwise sensible Christians asleep at the switch in the culture wars precisely because they are too distracted by prospects for the Rapture, or otherwise disinterested in helping right prevail because they figure to get their ticket out of here at any moment. This sort of thing brings about the very evils they see all around them.

It is not our job to foment disasters and lawlessness, especially when we foment them by default through our inaction and disinterest. We are stewards of the Lord's vineyard. The day will come when a generation arises fully embracing iniquity and ushering in the end. But, as Aragorn might say, "it is not this day!" We don't have to usher it in via neglect! It would seem that there are too many Christians who internally look with glee upon every bad thing that happens, because they figure that these are just "signs" that they won't have to "deal with" living here for much longer. God will hardly be pleased with such an attitude, I'm quite sure.

Let's leave the engineering jobs designed to bring about the end to the Shiites who want to bring back the Mahdi through worldwide chaos. And then let's do all in our power to thwart them! Shame on any Christian who seeks to do what boils-down to the same thing the crazy Shiites seek by letting chaos prevail, or worse, actively seeking its creation or continuance. We've got work to do here, now. Preferably with a better understanding of what the Rapture entails to begin with, but, barring that, at least spending more time with noses to the grindstone than with noses in the air, looking around in vain for any and all "signs."

Had this approach already been embraced, with the result that millions more Christians had been paying better attention, 0 wouldn't be the usurper-President, and any number of social ills wouldn't have gained enough traction over the last 30-40 years to ensure his placement in the office he claims to have. Let's wake up, people! God will come for His own in His own good time. We don't have to "help" him by default with our own sloth, greed and cowardice.

I wonder. The details of the scenario mutate constantly. For an example, google up oracle of Damascus for a whole round of speculation that was unknown just a few years ago.
