My own feeling is that it would sound a good deal more Germanic, just because the Anglo-Saxons were so much closer to German than we are. But that may be just because the prof at my college who taught Old Norse and Anglo-Saxon was in fact an ethnic German.

This fellow at UVA seems to agree with me though.
