SALT LAKE CITY -- Armed assailants attack and rob a Latter-day Saint Apostle, his wife and two other couples in the African nation of Mozambique. Elder Russell M. Nelson and his wife, Wendy, were on a Church assignment when the incident happened.

According to Church spokesman Scott Trotter, the wife of the mission President Blair Packard suffered a broken arm. She and others also have cuts and bruises.

Elder William and Sister Shanna Parmley of the Africa Southeast Area Presidency. Elder and Sister Nelson traveled to Mozambique for these weekend meetings with Church leaders there; Elder William and Sister Shanna Parmley of the Africa Southeast Area Presidency, and Pres. Blair and Sister Cindy Packard; he is the President of the Mozambique Maputo Mission.

The country is located in the southeastern part of the African continent on the Indian Ocean; Maputo is the Capitol.

Pres. Blair and Sister Cindy Packard; he is the President of the Mozambique Maputo Mission. The Church Statement says: "On Friday evening they were having dinner together in the mission president's home when armed assailants entered the home and robbed them. We don't have complete information yet, but we understand that Sister Packard's arm was broken. In addition, she and others suffered some superficial injuries, mainly cuts and bruises. Elder and Sister Nelson will continue their assignment over the weekend as planned."

The Church statement also includes information that authorities in that city are investigating the matter.

Former missionaries to Mozambique who we talked with Saturday tell us that they were warned to always be cautious and told about the dangers of life in that African nation.

Protestantism demonstrates through recent history the lynch mob mentality. Come on, admit it, you would be first in line with a rope outside my house.

Come on, admit it, you would be first in line with a rope outside my house.

Actually, I would be the first in line outside your house with a gag for your mouth.

There is hope for your soul as long as you are alive to finally understand how you have been mislead by the falseness of mormonism...I would never take that chance from you by shortening your life. We pray for you to see the error of your ways.

***WOW! Another threat of VIOLENCE against a Mormon by a Protester. Well, take your best shot!***

Now THAT’S funny, especially in light of the threats of violence that we’ve seen posted by you with support from your own scripture.

Don’t worry, if the “historical christians” come after me or mine, they will find out up close and personal what a Peacemaker is for.

Alma 43: 47 And again, the Lord has said that: Ye shall defend your families even unto bloodshed. Therefore for this cause were the Nephites contending with the Lamanites, to defend themselves, and their families, and their lands, their country, and their rights, and their religion.

Jesus teaches.....

Matt 5:38-48 “You have heard that it was said, ‘AN EYE FOR AN EYE, AND A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH.’

“But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.

“If anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, let him have your coat also.

“Whoever forces you to go one mile, go with him two.

“Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy.’

“But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

“For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?

“If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?

“Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Because, as you well know, we are commanded to preach the Gospel to all people.

The REFORMED Gospel®!!

You MUST use these words; or the BISHOP will hear about it!

How do you construe statements that I will defend myself and my family as threats? The ONLY way you can possibly do that is to be planning to do violence to me and/or my family.

So, why are you threatening me?

So do you care what other peoples religion is or is “sharing the LDS gospel only a duty on the “to do” list?

I believe you can have whatever religion you desire, including none at all.

If that was the case, you wouldn't constantly be attacking non-mormons with unsubstantiated accusations.

The Gospel is found in the New Testament of the Bible.

Jesus, being God incarnate, came in the flesh to die for mankind’s sins that ALL might have eternal life through Him as a gift, not through works.

If what is taught is does not line up with the NT, it’s not the Gospel.

Well, the Gospel you recite is not the complete Gospel of the New Testament. We call that Bible Lite wherein you pick and choose what you believe. If you desire to do that, go right ahead. I believe in your right to do that as long as you do not interfere with my right to worship the Gospel complete.

I don’t. You may notice that this thread is basically a mormon hate thread because of the actions of you protesters. Post this kind of garbage on an open thread and you must expect rebuttals. If you are too think skinned for that sort of argument, perhaps you should stick to your own devotional threads (and stay off the LDS devotional threads).

Somehow I am not surprised that you would think that of something The Lord Jesus Christ commanded us to do. Most of you don’t care what He commanded as long as your religion is based on “once saved always saved” and “we don’t have to do anything He said as long as we believe in him”, but you seem to forget that even the lowliest demon believes in Jesus Christ. So you think that mere belief will save you when it will not save the lowest demon?

That’s funny!

So posting an article about how a Mormon got injured and asking for prayer for her is an example of “Mormon hate”?

I agree, however, that the Mormons on this thread are doing a good job of showing what Mormon hate is all about with all the false accusations and unsubstantiated claims they make about other faiths.

A) You never answered my question. Do you or do you not care what a person’s religion is?

B) I do not subscribe to “Once saved always saved” although I do believe it is very difficult to lose salvation. The only thing a person can do to lose salvation is deny Christ. Becoming LDS is equivalent to denying the Holy Ghost and thus denying Christ.

C) I do not have to do anything but believe in Christ to gain salvation. I obey HIS commandments because I am saved, to show others His light in my life, to reflect HIM, not to earn His favor. There is no EARNING salvation in ANY way shape or form. There is not “laundry list”. Obedience is a joy not the chore the LDS make it out to be.

D) You are correct that the demons also “tremble and believe”, but they do not believe unto Salvation. Christians believe in Christ to save them. Demons are beyond salvation as they are fallen angels. Once again, an LDS misses the point. Nice try, though.

That is because there was no threat. More bloviating from the LDS.

Gal 6:6-9 I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!

As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!

Paul speaking, which you knew from your Baptist background. And the only Gospel that Paul knew was the one found in the New Testament.

Paul warns so clearly about preaching different Christ's or different gospels.

The Christ of the New Testament is God come in the flesh.
