How does one fact-check a fictional movie?
btw, I understand that this latest movie is actually more sympathetic to the Catholic Church than the last one, according to what I heard from Michael Medved.
When the author states that details in his book are factual you check THOSE FACTS ... odd that you miss the obvious there.
Good question.
Fortunately this isn't a fictional movie. This is a real movie. It's in the cinemas. And it makes assertions which can be compared with reality.
"Syriana", "Rendition" and many other films make assertions which are not true, and which are offensive. Are you OK with those?
How does one fact-check a fictional movie?
My favorite Dan Brown defense. It's only fiction!
Okay, so I am working on a book right now. It is all about an organization which has been operating secretly in Germany and Europe on behalf of a small powerful cabal seeking world domination. A great deal of history comes to play in the story, like how Napoleon and Rasputin, both high ranking members, hand selected Hitler to be the leader in Germany. Later, Hitler, a Mormon polygamist, was sacrificed by the organization, known as the SS or Secret Sanhedrin, and accused of killing 6 million Jews. As everybody knows, no Jews ever died in any deathcamps at all. It was all faked so that the Jews, the real leaders of the SS, could take over the world's media. It is going to be a real page turner.
But, don't worry about fact checking any of it. It's just fiction!
Why would anyone care to fact-check a fictional movie?
