I’ve been saying that for years.

Without faith in God, one can still be totally ungrateful for life and yet totally sensitive towards the existence of other moral blindness. To see evil clearly and yet not believe in salvation is the most miserable position that any human can find himself. It is the ultimate depth of despair. I am ungrateful during good times and even more ungrateful during bad times. I curse my own conception into life. I quickly grow tired of beautiful things and only react to them when they are being destroyed. All of this because of a belief in the certain triumph of ugliness and insanity in the world. It’s essentially a living death.

Alice VonHildebrand nails it ... again! Very powerful and frighteningly true.

In today's homily at the ordination of 19 new priests for the Diocese of Rome, the Holy Father touched on this same theme. It too is a powerful address. Will post and ping you to.

A fairly large part of this article addresses the education of Catholic children.

If Catholic children attended government school they learn the following:

1)everything will be presented to them from an atheistic point of view. The very fact that their parents send them to these atheistic government schools teaches the child that is is OK.

2) They learn to separate and compartmentalize their private religious life from their public life. That their parents have sent them into these godless government indoctrination centers teaches them that this is OK to do.

3) If they have Christian teachers in their atheistic government schools they child learns that Christian teachers will accept money for teaching atheism.

4) Since the child knows that their Catholic Christian faith teaches that atheism is false, the child learns that Christians are hypocrites who will teach a false worldview to children for a paycheck and generous pension.

So?....Are these children more likely or less like to remain true to the faith of their fathers when they graduate? ( Answer: Less likely.) Will missionary work be harder or easier among adults who are former government school attendees? ( Answer: Missionaries will have a much harder time of it. )

Powerful and accurate...but depressing. Christ is our only hope.

Very powerful! Sadly, it’s over the heads or beyond the willing comprehension of those who support BO and the evil he represents. They are so far gone it’s no longer possible to engage them in intelligent conversation, much less debate.

And so:”Once this stage is reached—the acceptance of the legalization of crimes—the fabric of the state is threatened. The state should stand for justice. Once it condones the most crying injustice, it has sapped the foundation of its authority. The worm of immorality has eaten so deeply into the apple that it is now rotten to the core and, humanly speaking, it cannot survive.” And as it fails to survive, it will take a great many, if not most of us, down with it. Such will be our liberation.

Alice von Hildebrand is professor emeritus of philosophy at Hunter College of City University of New York.

She's a great philosopher. Unfortunately, there are far too few Alic von Hildebrand's around.
