The following statement from Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., president of the University of Notre Dame, is in response to the decision by Mary Ann Glendon to decline acceptance of the Universitys Laetare Medal:
We are, of course, disappointed that Professor Glendon has made this decision. It is our intention to award the Laetare Medal to another deserving recipient, and we will make that announcement as soon as possible.
As someone once said,”The chickens are coming home to roost”
Ping for later
I nominate Margaret Sanger (posthumously). Perfect complement to B. Hussein Obama.
Will they give it to Clinton, Clinton, or Obama?
From Wiki, FWIW:
“The Laetare Medal is an annual award given by the University of Notre Dame in recognition of outstanding service to the Roman Catholic church and society. The award is given to an American Catholic layperson “whose genius has ennobled the arts and sciences, illustrated the ideals of the church and enriched the heritage of humanity.”[1][2] First awarded in 1883, it is the oldest and most prestigious award for American Catholics. The medal is an external award which can be given to a person from outside the University of Notre Dame. It is named the Laetare Medal because the recipient of the award is announced in celebration of Laetare Sunday, the fourth Sunday in Lent.[3][4]”
I would think any person who has so served a Christian denomination so as to deserve this award would similarly refuse it.
Ironically, Sanger and her organization were not for abortion when she was alive. They were for contraception, sterilization, etc.
Wouldn’t it be great if each one, as named, declined - for the same reason.
They’d probably just give the thing to Zero as well...
You should be on your knees in elation, thanking God for this courageous woman who follows church teachings and isn't afraid to show via an open letter to the media (who will now set out to devour her).

Try Ted Kennedy. He’s a good fit.
Would it look good for Notre Dame to give an award to a person who is a terrorist under current U.S. law?
Kathleen Sebelius! Better yet, George Tiller!
I’ve been hoping Glendon would turn it down.
Now, anyone who accepts it, is pro-abortion.
You laugh-- let's wait and see...
I was going to say Joe Biden, but having the Vice President of Silly Talks along with Comrade Zero, well, even Jenkins wouldn’t consider that.
Or would he? Maybe John Kerry or Kathleen Sibelius.
So many CINOs, so little time.
She has set the bar at a moral height, such that any recipient will now have to stoop to accept.
Who (of any substance) would take the award now?
.....maybe SloJoe?
Exactly.
What decent Catholic would accept that award now?
Hey what the heck, Fr. Jenkins...
Since you’re handin’ out medals and honors to anyone that will make you look good at the next cocktail party, without any regard to their actual beliefs or accomplishments,
you might as well give the Laetare Medal to Obama.
Her Majesty Queen Nancy Pelosi would be the perfect complement to the divine Emperor Obama.
At this point I think they’d have trouble giving it to a Christian of any denomination.
