ON THE FOURTH DAY G-D CREATED THE SUN, and it began to function as the center of our solar system. After approximately 365 1/4 days, the sun would be at its original place in the sky and a new year would begin, in a cycle that still continues without change. Tradition teaches that the sun's first appearance in the newly-created heaven is reckoned from Nissan, the month of Passover and springtime. A quarter of a year later after about 91 days, 7 1/2 hours the next season would begin and so on. If that very first year began on the eve of Wednesday, then the next one would start fifty-two weeks and a day and a quarter later, on a Thursday night.
Every twenty-eight years the sun would begin its spring season on the eve of a Wednesday, at the same moment when it was emplaced in the cosmos. So in a sense, that rare Wednesday is an anniversary of sorts, a milestone that reminds man of the G-d Who created him, his sun, and his earth. It is a time for him to pause in his incessant quest to feed himself and conquer his surroundings, a time to look at the teeming heavens and squint at the fiery sun, to contemplate the vastness of space and the infinite G-d to Whom the heavens are merely a throne, to recognize anew that man matters no more in all this expanse than an electron on Everest yet Man was proclaimed the master of all creation and given the task of subduing it, making it productive, and utilizing it to assist him in the service of G-d.

This thread is caucused to protect the sensitivities of those poor dear brain-dead Randian objectivists and anti-Semitic chr*stians from being scarred for life.
What was god doing the day before he started the clock?
god=God.
It was a typo.
Thinking up things to confuse ignorant goyim.
This is a caucused thread.
If you are not Jewish or Noachide, then leave the thread.
You get a gold star for snappy comeback.
Thanks!
I don't know what's got the Randians/anti-Semites so stirred up, but they're swarming all over my previous thread (the one with the video) like angry fire ants.
I apologize.
I thought it was a reasonable question from one in search of the truth. Consider me gone.. I won’t ask another.
Again, I meant no disrespect.

In that case, I apologize to you, and thank you for your courtesy. But such a question!
Randians/anti-Semites
Understood, and my apologies.
I was describing many people swarming my video thread and let my frustration spill onto this thread.
If you’re taking suggestions, I agree that threads like these should be for Jewish and Noachide comments only. Others can still read them for learning purposes, if they like. And for that purpose, a brief explanation and clarification at the beginning of each such thread might be a good idea.
Your posts on Birkat Hachamah have been good ones and included the most important information. Other posts on the observance, before yours, seemed to miss the most important point. Jewish people are not deferring to the sun but are thanking G-d for creating it.
And us...Noachides even? “The Rebbe explains that this is not called a Sabbath To Hashem but rather a Thanksgiving to Elokim: the name that represents G-dliness creating Nature” (Rabbi Yossi Markel).
