Well Guitar, you see, I’m struggling a bit with God if you ask me.

Does God actually answer prayer, or is our change of fate in a time of need, just dumb luck? Is it possible, that even if you do live your life, just right, you are the endless victim of misery and mayhem anyway? So, exactly what is the point?

Did the jews deserve the holocaust? Did the tsunami victims deserve their plight? Would prayer and faith saved them from their misery and being wiped out, or left to live a miserable existence with those horrible memories?

I say this in frustration, my faith weakened over the years.

You said — “I say this in frustration, my faith weakened over the years.”

Two things... Salvation is the first, and then secondly, Hebrews 11...

You are confusing God with Superman.

You sound like Job, and God's answer would be were you there when He rolled out the heavens like a scroll or when He laid the foundation of the world? I know that God answerer's all prayers with yes, no and later. God the Father is the God of the 11th hour and 59 minutes. Why did He let me stick needles in my arms for 20 years and then deliver me in a twinkle of an eye? I don't know but He does.

God is powerful, but not omnipotent, especially when it comes to affairs of the world. The omnipotence idea is a fairy tale. Don’t throw God in the dumpster just because you’ve figured out that God isn’t really omnipotent.

For what it’s worth, my faith is strongest when I stop asking what if, and start accepting what is.

Bad things happen to good people. Living a righteous life is not a free pass from bad things happening to you. Just look what happened to Jesus.

Life on earth is short. Death without Salvation is forever. Can’t say for sure that’s how it will go, but that’s why they call it faith.

Listen hardest when it’s most quiet.

Mmmmm. Sound like Yoda, intent was not.

:)

I am told by believers that God answers every prayer - it's just that you may not get the answer you want.

As long as you have faith the size of a mustard seed...

Jesus suffered, and He did say, "Take up your Cross and follow Me". During Lent, you could try to meditate on His agony in the garden and on His Passion. He did it for us so that we could be saved, but don't forget that He told His disciples that they would have to drink the cup that He would drink. They were martyred. It's the blood of the martyrs that helps bring new souls to Christ. Precious in His site is the death of His loved ones. His ways are not our ways.
