Having grown up a Protestant, I was not aware of the Stations of the Cross. Several years ago I was driving from Phoenix, AZ to Prescott AZ and noticed a shrine in Yarnell. I believe it is on Shrine Dr. They have a park there with life-sized statues depicting each of the stages with a plaque describing each stage. As you walk through the stages you are climbing the hill toward Calvary which is at the last stage.
The effect is very moving. I would recommend stopping to visit if you are in the area!
One of the most powerful, marvelous Lenten devotions of The Church!
