Kinda. In my experience (and I did it too) The LDS will use the past prophets as scripture when i suits their purposes.

However, if it is embarrassing or makes the LDS church look bad, then the pat answer is “well, he was speaking as a man” or “only the current prophet speaks for today”.

But for the rank and file, when conversing amongst themselves, again in my experience, all prophets are created equal.

I’ve seen posts by mormons where they say that doesnt apply any more etc...

“Why arent you following D&C 132...the “new and EVERLASTING covenant”...????”

“Because we dont follow THAT any more etc”

“What about where Kimball said he thinks getting more wives is like getting more cows...???”

“Oh, that’s not part of our beliefs anymore...He’s dead... “

“What about the racism that Smith, Young, etc preached as part of mormonism...”

“That was changed in 1978 ...They’re dead...Silly Nana”

“What about the need to practice polygamy in order to go to the hall of the mormon god ???”

“We are the ONLY ones who are clean and virtuous and have ONE husband ONE wife...”

And so on...

ALgore the anti-mormon apostate invented the Internent...
