The Republican National Committee elected Michael Steele as its first African American chairman today in Washington, a decision that came after an excruciating series of ballots that displayed a level of drama rarely seen in national politics.
On the sixth and final ballot Steele bested South Carolina Republican party Chairman Katon Dawson 91 to 77.
"It's time for something completely different and we are going to bring it to them," Steele said after his victory. "This is our opportunity. I cannot do this by myself."
They hired the wrong black guy.
And he is certifiably black enough to criticize Obama too ! Wonder if he has authentic slave blood though...
He’s not running for President.
I sincerely hope so. I’ve seen the new Chairman give video interviews before. Gives a good accounting of himself.
>>Yep, overall hes great but McCain-RINO on gun rights.<<
We’ll just get him educated and straightened out on that.
We need to get these guys in line and we can with constant pressure and threats of no $ support, etc.
He is a republican, therefore he will probably end up being weak on alot of issues, if he like the other republicans in politics.
I like Mike. He’ll do a great job. We need someone who can speak the King’s English well, is personable, can put a whole sentence together and it actually makes sense, and is an all around good guy. He’s got personality! We need a good front man who can get out there and actually do some PR, as our Party has been notoriously bad at PR. Go Michael Steele!
“He is a republican, therefore he will probably end up being weak on alot of issues, if he like the other republicans in politics.”
Well, we need to change that and let them know, in no uncertain terms, that that is no longer acceptable.
P.S., he’s cute to boot.
I am very, very happy. Steele is a good guy.
I for one am pretty happy about this choice.
You bet! :-)
Breitbart article calls him a moderate. Is that true? It’s NOT good news if he’s a RINO.
Also pro-affirmative action. Bad choice.
“Well, we need to change that and let them know, in no uncertain terms, that that is no longer acceptable.”
I think Steele’s election is a sign of the change to come in the Republican party. Steele’s definitely more conservative than Repub....he’s no coward either.
I’d say this is an excellent decision and great pick.
That is also frighteningly inarticulate. Does he always speak with I-mean-or-whatever-and-things-like-that, or did the reporter drag him out of bed too early that time?
“Breitbart article calls him a moderate. Is that true? “
No, he’s not a moderate.
More tricks and games by the MSM to knock this guy down.
I smell fear in the ranks of the MSM...with good reason.
