Just When I Thought I Could Say "Amen"...

by Eric Barger

Eric seems to have missed the opening of Rick Warren's invocation.

Let us pray.

Almighty God, our father,
everything we see and everything we can't see
exists because of you alone. It all comes from you,
it all belongs to you. It all exists for your glory.
History is your story.

(Mar 12:29 Jesus answered, "The foremost is,)
'HEAR, O ISRAEL! THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD;

The Shema as prayed by Yah'shua and
recorded by Peter's amanuensis, Mark.
shalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiach Adonai

Then he follows the Shema with this statement:

“And you are the compassionate and merciful one.”

The NKJV of the translation of the Bible translate James 5:11b as “-that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.”

But that statement is also related to one of the false god Allah's most holy names in Islam. And is at the beginning of every chapter of the Qur’an (except one) and is used as an invocation.

With all the titles Warren could have addressed the Lord by after the Shema he chose one that could be interspersed with Islam and Allah. What are the chances that particular phrase was connected to the Shema by Warren and he was unaware of its connection with the Qur’an? Then he ends his prayer not with Jesus Christ but with a list of names for “Jesus” minus his Messianic title. And one of them was Isa the jesus of Islam.
