Father John Horgan is pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul parish in Vancouver, B.C. He is a faily regular face on EWTN and is also on the Executive Board of the Catholic Educator's Resource Center.
This is actually the 4th week of Advent but the message still applies. Our Churches will be filled on Christmas day. Please pray for the fallen away Catholics that some message or prayer will move their hearts and bring them back to the practice of their faith.
I am reminded of the story of not worring about the splinter in MY eye, when you can’t get rid of the plank in YOURS.
Maybe the reason there are so many catholics leaving is, oh I dunno - homosexual priests, Obama-backing parishoners, pro-choice clergy, millions of $$ being redistributed to Marxists overseas.
When they clean their own house is when I’ll invite them back.
**Christ the Saviour wants to bring them home, home to His Heart, His Church, His Kingdom. To do this, He seeks our willingness, our prayer, our conversion of heart. It is time now, in this Third Week of Advent to begin to pray in a special way for all those “strangers” who will come to our churches for Christmas Mass, for those who have fallen away but still hear the Voice of the Divine Shepherd calling them through the words of carols and the sound of church bells. We should pray not only for “our own,” but for all. **
Amen. I join in this prayer.
