>>>Another victim of our failed school system...
As a 7 year HSLDA card carrying veteran with a 14 year old in his first year of college, and on track to have his masters in Computer Science by the age of 19, I’ll try not to take offense to that.

Reactive on my part... I shouldn’t have said it.

It is just frustrating when I see the “conform not... we are not of this world” passage used to suggest that we shouldn’t be involved in our own democratic government.
You said that our democracy and Faith in God doesn’t mix as if we christians are “above it all”. It comes off as rather prideful and snootish to non-believers. We should understand what that really means, and consider how someone who is not familiar with Christianity will interpret it.

When it comes to our life here on this earth, we are no better than anyone else.

Thanks for not being offended.

No problem. Don't fret it.

We can't worry about how the world or non-believers will view us.
In Secular Humanism, the world answers the 4 Big Questions of Life like this:
1) Who am I? I am accidental primordial soup, with no inherent value, dignity, or worth.
2) Why am I here? I am here to consume and enjoy.
3) What's wrong with the world? A deficiency in education and a deficiency in governing is what is wrong with the world.
4) How can what is wrong be made right? More education, more governing.

In a Christian Worldview, we would answer like this:
1) Who am I? I am the crown and glory of God's creation with all of my value, dignity, and worth coming from Him.
2) Why am I here? To glorify God and enjoy Him forever by reflecting His image.
3) What's wrong with the world? Me. I don't do what I was created to do.
4) How can what is wrong be made right? By Christ's sacrificial, atoning death on the cross to satisfy the wrath of God against me and thereby allowing my spirit to be reborn of His Spirit and thus start the process of being conformed back to His image.

It is this 4th question that is applicable here. Whether it is a small or big government doesn't matter. Whether it is a Monarch, Democracy, or Communistic doesn't matter. The way the fourth question gets answered has to do with faith that reproduces. That is why I say they don't mix. They have two different purposes.

If we want to change America, save more souls. That's it. If every political office from the President on down to your local City Councilman was a believer, the guy next door to you will still be looking at porn, the lady across the street will still be having an affair, and the teenager living behind you will still be smoking pot.

I'm not saying that we should not get involved and vote for righteous candidates, but we have to understand that is not where the real battle will be one.
