George Marlin at The Catholic Thing offers a helpful bullet pointed list of what Catholics can expect in the next four years (and I quote):
The executive ban on funding abortions in U.S. overseas health agencies will be eliminated.
The executive order barring federal financing of embryo stem-cell research will be eliminated.
Culture-of-death judges who believe in a living Constitution will be installed at all levels of the federal judiciary.
Reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine will eliminate radio and television discussions of issues that matter to Catholics.
FOCA
A national gay rights bill that will confer special status on homosexual men and women will be enacted. This will establish a new federally-protected class based on ones sexual orientation.
A national hate crimes law will be enacted. This will create a new class of victims who will receive greater attention than victims outside those groups and who suffer similar injuries. Assault on a homosexual person will be a greater crime (with greater penalties) than assault on a heterosexual person.
Catholic institutions will be harassed. Expect the I.R.S. to go after Catholic dioceses, colleges, think tanks, foundations and their donors for promoting their faith in the public square.
He adds:
“Practicing Catholics in the public square must get it through their heads that while the new regimes rhetoric may be appealing and sound sophisticated, nevertheless, there is an underlying and serious distaste for Catholicism. Catholics will be viewed by these secular humanists as public villains and in their salons, anti-Catholicism will be an even more acceptable prejudice than it already has been.”
These are important things to remember.
It’s also important to remember what Pope Benedict XVI went out of his way to point out by the very name he gave his apostolic visit to the United States. Christ is our hope.
The Register, is proposing ways in which that hope is real, and no mere platitude.
Tom Hoopes
Let them persecute us. We know who’s side God is on in this time of upheaval.
Amen...
And B.L.O.A.T.
“And B.L.O.A.T”.
Huh?
Watch what happens when all the Catholic hospitals start closing down. Public opinion WILL change on all of this...
Those words, sadly, are absolutely right.
And two years from now, the Lefties in congress will start being replaced...
And four years from now, Obama will be another Carter. “One & Done!”
" The executive order barring federal financing of embryo stem-cell research will be eliminated. "
The executive order AUTHORIZED federal funding for ESC research. Obama's going to rescind the part limiting that funding to certain lines.
President Bush- "In 2001, I announced a policy to advance stem cell research in a way that is ambitious, ethical, and effective. I became the first President to make federal funds available for embryonic stem cell research --"
Ping!
my m other in law is catholic who lives up in MA as many of her family and many other who live there I know.
Everyone of them votes Dem and are clueless to just how much their religion is under threat from the homo’s and liberals.
Even though her local church closed , even though the media for a year destroyed the church , even though an historical church in her town named Quincy which has two presidents buried there has a rainbow flag flying form it
The people there do not either care or are just to stupid to see what is happening to them.
Of courser there is some good people there who do know but in MA they seem a minority
Americans and American Catholics lend credence to the expression of the dumbing down of America and of course, Obama was treated with Kid-gloves.
We know to expect persecution. But, why did so many Catholics vote to get more persecution?
"Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."
I imagine if/when the times of real persecution come, many "catholics" will officially and finally turn away. I pray often that I may stay strong in my faith and in the Lord's Grace through these most trying times.
"Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."
Absolutely!
They are either too stupid to understand what's at stake, or their hearts have become hardened.
Friend, I hope your right, but we have to admit, America has really taken a fall in this election and it might start accusing the Church of some type of crime against humanity if they close!
We have to simply put Christ first now more than ever!!
Those who call themselves Christians need to repent and get serious about progressing in the holiness that Christ has called us to. It’s getting too far ahead of ourselves to say that the government will accuse the Church of “crimes against humanity” yet. That day may come, but we aren’t there yet. In the meantime, we need to pray and act prudently.....but still act. ;-)
