Why I'm a Conservative Catholic (The essay that had to be written)
JesseRomero.com ^ | Jesse Romero ( Catholic Lay Evangelist)

Winston Churchill was noted for saying that if you are 18 and not a liberal you don’t have a heart, if you are 30 and not conservative you don’t have a brain. This describes my journey from one political party (Democrat) to another (Republican). My Dad was a Democrat, my Mom was a Democrat, my relatives were Democrats;...--As I see it, the Republicans represent the Catholic position on the critical moral issues of our day.

“The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he doesn't exist.” — Baudelaire (albeit embarrassingly via The Usual Suspects)
I continually marvel when I read about Catholics and Jews that continue to vote Democrat. To lend support to a political organization that openly supports everything that is anti religious, anti Christian, anti morals defies logical explanation.

I firmly believe that God records every single thing we do [or don't do] and we will answer for *all* of it on Judgment Day.

That belief is the immutable truth against which I measure everything.

“I firmly believe that God records every single thing we do [or don't do] and we will answer for *all* of it on Judgment Day.”

I believe that too. But sometimes it's so hard to watch all the lies, deceit and dishonesty that has become the standard for the left. To those that worship moral relativism, the only creed is if it's repeated often enough, it's true. The constant drumbeat coercing society to accept deviant behavior as mainstream, while ridiculing conservative values as being (fill in your choice) is a prime example. We are browbeaten by the left as being racist or prejudiced if we espouse Judeo Christian values. We are told that the separation of Church and State prohibits the exercise of those values in government. Another great lie. We are a nation founded on those values. Strip them away, and our nation will fall. We will all be judged by God on judgement day. If we don't start exercising good judgment on our own, we hasten that days arrival.

A Conservative Catholic?
Liberal Catholic?
Christian Conservative?
Liberal Christian?

This is all NONSENSE. You can call yourslef anything you want. Does not make you that thing.
You are either a Christian or you are not. To be a Christian you would by defintion follow the path of Christ.
If by your actions you are not following that path (killing unborn babies or supporting that) then you are not a Christian.

“The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he doesn’t exist.”

How can we label it:?

“A perverse and clandestine humility”?

“Bush interrupted Saddam’s comeback on the world stage”.

I hope that stays on your page; we can hope that a more thinking generation in the future will see how great a leader Bush was during the War on Terror.

Jesse makes a mistake in saying that a Catholic can’t compromise on abortion etc because they are Catholic. That is true in a sense, but the reason they can’t compromise is the same reason that no one should compromise and that is that those issues are rooted in the natural law, in human nature itself. The Church makes the natural law her laws.

“no one should compromise”

I agree: the Natural Law pertains to everyone.

No doubt Jesse understands this.
