Ping!
Perhaps this will provide you with a clearer understanding of the scriptural basis behind our discussion on the other thread.
Thanks!!

Firstly, if one wants to know what one has to do to receive blessings, the Sermon on the Mount is a great place to start. Blessed are the ... etc, etc...
If one wants to to see the opposite, the consequences of sin, start at Sodom and Gomorrah, or even back further to the flood of Noah.
Looking at the world today, the spread of pornography, lasciviousness, homosexuality, and all sorts of carnal delights of the world, I have no doubt what is in store for the world. Clearly a validation of the writings of John.
Here's a few more verses that help explain the position of the LDS, as well as other Christians not of your persuasion.
Prov. 14: 34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
Deut. 6: 24
24 And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.
Deut. 11: 27
27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day:
6 Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
Deut. 9: 4 For my righteousness the Lord hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the Lord doth drive them out from before thee.
Isa. 26: 2 Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.
Acts 10: 35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
Ps. 1: 6. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
“Am I aware of my own sinful tendencies?”
I’ve noticed one the greatest stumbling blocks are sins against Charity. The problem with a mortal sin involving a lack of Charity is that many times people’s pride and ego get in the way of actually acknowledging they have committed a grevious offense against Charity.
It takes a great amount of self-awareness and a very detailed examination of conscience with regard to dealings with other people.
The problem is greatest when one’s pride is in conflict with another’s pride.
The amount of honesty to acknowledge the fault is difficult.
It is for myself also.
” whatsoever is contrary to charity is a mortal sin...”
Summa Theologica
Scripture is such a treasure house. This article outlines yet more Scriptural and especially Gospel proofs.
Thank you once again.
