"Prosperity is being able to do what you want to do when you want to do it in the way you want to do it," wrote Dr. Raymond Charles Barker. That is a pretty good summary of the consciousness of prosperity.
Prosperity is about more than money, although having sufficient money to do everything you choose to do is obviously an important part of it. Money facilitates the functioning of individuals, families, and organizations. But the consciousness of prosperity is one of vibrant health (so you're physically capable of doing what you choose to do), of service to your fellow human beings (a product of being able to do what you choose to do), of so many other things. It is living a healthy, wealthy, wise, and happy life in every aspect.
That's the life we all want to live. Too many people, however, have constructed a web of negative beliefs that keep them from being all they can be and having all they can have. Are you one of those people? Does the Universe seem to be conspiring to "keep you down"? If so, you need to remember that as Swami Beyondananda says, "the Universe IS a conspiracy -- a conspiracy to make you happy!"
It can be hard to maintain such an attitude, however. That's why spiritual practices are important. It's also why it's important to give time, money, or whatever you can. We know that the Law says that what you give comes back to you multiplied. Giving is the sign of an abundant, prosperous person. Your giving, your activity lifts up others and reminds you of the prosperity that you are as an expression of God.
Daniel Nahmod has a song entitled "Sittin' on a Goldmine." You are sitting on a goldmine right now. Did you even know? And what will you do with all the "gold" the Universe has put in your life, whether it takes the form of money, health, community, family, or whatever?
The choice is yours.
So what unlocks this goldmine?
People who are able to earn enough money to have a surplus also are able to influence their culture through the spending, saving or giving away of those extra dollars to their favorite church or charity. This is the best way for people to live for there is safety in many counselors which is what millions become when they choose how to spend their own money. Times become dangerous when government confiscates those dollars, ripping away this protection, then proceeds to distort the culture through redistribution schemes.
The consciousness of the person.
Prayer, openness to the infinite blessings of the Universe, the willingness to do what it takes to achieve it, and one of the greatest attractors -- gratitude.
Our ability to receive anything -- any of the many blessings that God has for us -- is limited only by our ability to receive and our willingness to accept.
That's why developing a prosperity consciousness is so important.
To quote Richard Bach, "You are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it true. You may have to work for it, however."
Politicians lie redistributionism becausae it gives them power (even while turning them away from the One Power), makes them popular, and allows them to exercise their resentment of those who are moer successful thean they (most politicians would be abject failures if they had to make a living outside public office) while allowing them to clothe this resentment in noble-sounding ideas.
But resentment is ruin, nad it ultimately will catch up to the lot of them.
To quote the musical group Devotion (www.devotionsings.com):
"Every little thing that you say or do,
Like a boomerang, it will come back to you."
Is that what you think the problem is, not enough stuff?
You quite obviously missed the point of the article.
Which is a much more effective way of helping poeple and "sharing the wealth" than any government program can ever be.
You can only give what you have. The more prosperous people -- financially and otherwise -- the more they're able to give and share. Taht helps everyone.
