Romans 6:23 calls death the wages of sin not a fine.
There is a difference.
It’s rhetorical, an allegory just like a parable ... Jesus paid for our sins .... she broke the law (sinned) and Jesus came down and paid for her’s as well as yours. It was simply a story to illustrate what God did for us - He became one of us through Jesus .... paid for our sins ...
