Unfortunately, Giuliani kicked the mob out, and now San Gennaro is a generic street fest with the same boring trinket vendors that you see at every other NYC street fest. Even Santa Rosalia in Brooklyn is rather staid now.
Not quite. The generic street fairs are indeed all the same, but the San Gennaro is truly different. I’m probably going to miss it again this year.
