My assumption is that God’s nature is constant and he reveals his nature through Scripture (and nature). And my advice is if someone tells you to ignore the Bible and listen to me, turn on your heals and run to the hills.
None of them have said ignore the Bible and listen to them.
Sheesh.
I gather you’ve never had a prophetic dream or vision.
That is what I think heaven will be like. 'When we've been there 10,000 years, bright shining as the sun, we've no less days to sing His praise than when we'd first begun'. Not quite scripture, but a great picture.
Thank you so much for the ping, dear brother in Christ!
And you for your kind words . . .
Someone was remarking to me . . . a very old timer . . .
that a lot of the fun has . . . gone . . . that so many people hereon are so chronically and so forcefully angry virtually all the time over the least little thing.
I thought it was just what I triggered toward me on my typical threads.
Is he right? Has that been a significant change hereon generally speaking? Sad, if so. Very sad.
I have a feeling that I once had a prescient dream but it was about something pretty prosaic. This may just be a trick of my mind.
Also, always in the back of my mind I was afraid I'd have to be with my Dad when he died. That fear became fact when he died of brain aneurysm while we were out skiing.
Of course I trust His Teachings over everything else.
I don’t necessarily trust my tidy boxed
ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT
His teachings, however.
Holy Spirit is the Best Interpreter of His Teachings.
I found your construction on reality took some leaps of logic that the Bible didn’t include in that specific instance.
Sure.
Preconceived bias halo effects are very hazardous.
That’s one reason I’ve chronically put puzzle pieces on the shelves waiting multiple confirmations . . . or God pulling them off and confirming in some vivid way.
Would You agree that a main reason the pharisees rejected Jesus is because he did not match their assumtions and preconceived notions?
The aborted children testimony was truly moving. Thanks for the ping
These so called revelations that don't conflict with biblical teaching add nothing of relevance to our understand of God's nature. As Jesus taught, if his Holy Spirit can't convince someone, lurid tales of hell surely won't. He want’s people to come to him out of love, not out of fear.
Absolutely.
And, entirely confirming of Jesse Duplantis’
5.5 earth hour Heavenly visit and what he saw and was told regarding aborted babies.
Jesus told him that Jesus didn’t lose a single one.
Further, that given the shortness until the end of history as we have known it . . .
that some of the kids own mothers would be teaching them in Heaven.
Makes sense.
I guess I’m the resident court ox gorer?
Sigh.
Feel free to walk on by unedified.
I never claimed mileage didn’t vary.
Such narratives have persistently strengthened my relationship with God over the years.
Sure the ideal is Love.
However, He’d like folks to miss hell and make Heaven home by any Biblical means at all.
AND THE
BEGINNING
OF WISDOM
IS THE FEAR OF THE LORD.
THAT
Dear Heart
IS PLAIN BIBLE.
The song Amazing Grace has a neat verse about fear
