Two men, including a former Ravena minister who is now a prison chaplain, face criminal charges after they were allegedly caught in a sex act Saturday at a Northway rest stop near Exit 24. State Police said Joseph A. Loux Jr., 62, of Hannacroix in Greene County, and Eugene F. Barnaby, 34, of Thurman in Warren County, admitted to investigators that they engaged in oral sex along a path behind the rest stop, about 15 feet from an outdoor picnic area.
Loux, a chaplain assigned to the Washington County prison, was suspended without pay Tuesday, said Linda Foglia, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Correctional Services. Loux had been employed by the state since September, 2005, and earned $59,125. Foglia said corrections officials will file a notice of discipline requesting Loux's dismissal. Warren County District Attorney Kate Hogan said Loux was previously the pastor of the Congregationalist Christian Church of Ravena.
Barnaby told police that he had visited the rest area weekly for about a year to watch men engage in oral sex. "It happens there quite a bit," troopers said Barnaby told them. "I promise I will never go back there again." Both Loux and Barnaby were charged with public lewdness and released on their own recognizance. Sophie Jensen, an assistant district attorney in Warren County who is prosecuting the case, said their scheduled court appearance Wednesday was postponed.
One must wonder if the “priesthood” would be better served with devout laymen over the one we have now?
Agenda?
There’s no priests involved in this one. A Protestant prison chaplain is the culprit.
It didn’t help with the Boy Scouts. There are people who are perverted, they need prey, they put themselves into positions where prey is available.
We should all be glad that the Boy Scouts started rooting them out and even though it was painful and embarrassing the Catholic Church finally dealt with it’s problem. It is time for Protestant churches and the schools to start cleaning up their problems.
One must wonder why you didn’t read the article. He was a
minister of the Congregationalist Christian Church of Ravena.
