At least one Church of England bishop will defect to Rome soon after the Lambeth Conference, I gather from Anglo-Catholic sources. And there could be more to follow.
I can't tell you much more than that at the moment, because the negotiations with Rome are so sensitive - and the Catholic Bishops of England and Wales, who distrust Anglican traditionalists, are quite capable of throwing a spanner in the works.
It's shaming to have to admit that the bishops of my own Church are the chief obstacle to a significant move of Anglo-Catholic clergy and lay people into full communion with the Holy See - but that's the way it was last time, in the early 1990s, and it's still the case today.
Fortunately, Pope Benedict XVI is more open to experiment than Pope John Paul II. He is taking a close interest in the progress of the rebel Traditional Anglican Communion towards reunion - a process which is under the control of the Congregration for the Doctrine of the Faith, not the Vatican's woolly-minded ecumenists.
I can't betray confidences, but my advice is: look at the new church structures, such as Old Rite parishes, that the Pope is already encouraging, and ask yourself how those models might be adapted for the use of former Anglicans.
But I've already said too much...

Not so fast, my friend. My intervention in your thread was not done for the purpose of proselytizing you, as surely you must agree, so I appreciate the same courtesy in return. I made my point, abundantly clearly, and so I depart. Once again, best wishes to you.
Question: “Why do you take so much pleasure in your persistent endeavor?”
Answer: What man of you that hath an hundred sheep: and if he shall lose one of them, doth he not leave the ninety-nine in the desert, and go after that which was lost, until he find it? 5 And when he hath found it, lay it upon his shoulders, rejoicing:
6 And coming home, call together his friends and neighbours, saying to them: Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep that was lost?
This is the teaching of the Church: one can be sanctified by the Catholic Church and save his soul outside of the visible boundary of the Church. When that happens, one is still saved in the Catholic Church, outside of which there is no salvation. Since the doctrine is a bit paradoxical, it is not surprising that when a telegraphic style of discussion is used, there seems to be no consensus.
how offensive your posts are
What B-Chan said, in 52.
Are you sure? You might want to double-check that.
LOL. Be nice now.
I understand that to be your position. You have not taken pains here to support that position, nor would I expect or desire you to. With the same lack of expressed support on my side, and with the caution that I do not at all care to argue the point with you, allow me to opine what a profoundly mistaken and abhorrent position I believe that to be. Many have made your point on this thread, and, being a Protestant, it is my spiritual gift, apparently, joyously to protest that here. I do so, I hasten to add, without creating thread after thread to obnoxiously make my point.
“First, has it occurred to you that your frequent posts of this nature might offend nonCatholics?”
There is no reason to be offended if you choose not to read such posts and perhaps you should stop reading them as you seem to have an adverse reaction. There is no need for you to read them as there are so many others who do read them and there are so many, many other posts you could be spending your time reading pleasurably. As for the thread being posted, this is a free country, a free republic. You have a plethra of threads on FR to choose something more to your liking. Go in peace.
I’m on Salvation’s and Annalex’s lists - I thought I was on yours. If so mistaken, please add me!
Do you really suppose your precious point has not been adequately and forcefully made numerous times before you chanced upon the wreckage here?
However, with the deep and impenetrable obtuseness that seems to permeate your Catholic brethren (for so I presume you to be), you valiantly sally forth with this latest profundity. So that you, too, can taste (for obviously you have not read, and certainly not understood) my previous posts, I will for your edification alone (everyone else having long since retired from the fray in exhaustion) venture an explanation and answer to your oh-so-obvious--but utterly and irredeemably mistaken--point. Herewith (get ready!):
It is impossible even to scroll through the Religion Forum without noticing these posts.
I do not read them--much as you have not acquainted yourself considerably with this thread's contents. I merely notice them.
Got it?
Now, I would very much like to go in peace, as you suggest, if you will permit it. I thought I already had, but there is always one more kernel that POPS even after the microwave stops.
The point B-Chan made is about a difference between being nice and being charitable. You two exchanged some angry posts later, but that point of his I agree with. Christian love is about wanting the best for your neighbor, and the best I want for you is your eternal life. So, I evangelize. You can do the same, and I won’t put it against you.
The doctrine “no salvation outside the Catholic Church” is the Church position, and it means what I said: that when a non-Catholic is saved, it is still the Catholic Church that saves him. There little point arguing for or against it, it is just a fact that the Church teaches that. My attitude about these things is simple: if you think it contradicts the Scripture, I will show how it doesn’t; if you have a different opinion, then you are free to hold it, but it will not be the Catholic teaching. Does it make sense?
Ping.
I do not read them--much as you have not acquainted yourself considerably with this thread's contents. I merely notice them.
I've read with a little amusement the discussion through this whole thread, and now you end it all with this? (Where's the BANG?) Others have already answered your several questions, including NYer, but you seem to want her (and others) simply not to post articles of this nature so that you won't "notice" them as you scroll past. I don't know if there is a solution to that problem. If I notice a lot of, say, LDS posts I don't want to read should I ask posters not to post them because I have to scroll past them? Ridiculous. But for another and different take on the situation, here goes:
Actually, in terms of religious news - and the article in question I would label as more of "editorial gossip" on the part of the Telegraph in England - this potentially is, for better or worse regardless of whether or not you like it, major news.
The implication is that a leader(s), a bishop(s), of the C of E might convert to the Catholic Church presumably bringing with him (them) much of the laity who make up that Church. Quite frankly, things are not looking good in England, or for that matter the rest of Western Europe, in terms of people practicing their Christian Faith. Many have lost it. There may soon be more practicing Muslims than Christians (both Catholic and Protestant) in England in another generation. I believe even today, though I could be mistaken, that more Catholics (the "minorities") attend Sunday Mass on a regular basis in England than members of the Church of England (ostensibly a huge swath of "majorities").
This is newsworthy and where else would it be posted here if not the Religious Forum? In the long term I believe these religious incidents will have a huge impact on the political landscape of the free world.
Nyer has posted many conversion stories of others to the Catholic Faith over the years and I have never noticed any "gloating", et al, you accused her of in previous posts. Perhaps rejoicing! And why not? It is part and parcel to the mission of the Catholic Faith to bring all men to the fullness of the Truth which is Christ Himself continually working through His Church which, in the self understanding of herself, is the Catholic Church. Agree or disagree, this is the teaching of the Catholic Church. No real news there. It has been ongoing for about 2,000 years now.
Anyway, Thanks for posting this Nyer. On a busy schedule as of late, these posts help me keep up with what is going on out there in the world
Done! Welcome! Now you will be able to read all of those ‘conversion’ stories I post ;-0
As I already indicated, I do not care to argue the point here and now. As I also indicated, that does not mean I don’t think I have the correct position.
Aha! Finally, someone who is at least willing to confront the issue and begin to ask the right question!
Actually, I don't mind seeing those posts any more than those too-numerous LDS posts you mention. What I do mind is the complete indifference of the posters to the appearance of all those posts to outsiders, an indifference that finally assumes antagonistic proportions when it is repeated so often.
I do not presume to know the answer, either. As I posted several times, my wish is only that those posters might exercise (1) Christian love by considering others prior to posting and (2) obedience by inquiring of the Holy Spirit for how He would have them post. I trust Him--I wish they would, too, in this instance.
I think you're missing the point. What Hebrews 11:6 means to say is, SHUT UP!
(Note to admins: This message is meant to satirize the situation, not read minds.)
Really, Kolokotronis...
If you tell us you have a phronema, we’ll presume it’s an Orthodox one. :^)
Thanks, by the way... I’m spiritually benefitted by looking that up.
Yeah, prolly. There will surely be more incoming later.
BTW, what is the name of the font you used?
