Posted on 06/08/2008 11:04:55 PM PDT by baa39

Monday August 25 to Friday, August 29, 2008 - Extraordinary Form of the Mass - 1962 Missale Romanum - "The Most Beautiful Thing this Side of Heaven"

The "Workshop for Laity" in the Extraordinary Form of the Mass will provide an in-depth examination and spiritual meditation on the Traditional Latin Mass through the presentation of lectures and tutorials.

Participants will also have opportunities for Eucharistic Adoration to extend the worship of our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. Devotion to Our Blessed Lady will be fostered by the recitation of the Holy Rosary in Latin. Additionally, sacramental Confession will be offered frequently throughout the week for the spiritual benefit of those attending the workshop.

And best of all, each day of the workshop, registrants will participate in the celebration of the Traditional Latin Mass, with an ever-deeper love and appreciation of the Church, her liturgical traditions and of her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Phleger may be reinstated at St. Sabina's, but something good is happening in the Archdiocese of Chicago!

I've never desired to visit the windy city, but I wish I could attend this incredible week.

I’m not Catholic, but I’d love to take this course. I wish the church would put this online in the form of MP3 or Flash video courses.

If you would like to complain to the Cardinal

1-312-751-8230 is the number to his office.

When I called yesterday at 4:30 they had an answering machine taking messages, due to "The High volume" of calls they had been receiving.

“Is it legitimate for bishops and priests to deny communion to those supporting candidates who favor abortion rights?”

Is it legitimate for a journalist to ask this question? We are not talking about doing something illegal under civic law (like polygamy to use a recent example in the news), we are talking about a priest exercising his religious duties within his own Church, according to the sacred beliefs of that Church.

Not only is it legitimate for priests and bishops to follow the moral dictates of their religion, it’s their individual responsibility, to the Communicant, to the Sacrament, and pastorally to their flock, and it also happens to be Canon Law.

Many bishops ignore Canon Law, and it should be applied more consistently. No priest is going to deny Communion just because someone has an Obama sticker on their car. This was a grave sin: a person in a position of political influence publicly advocating abortion by endorsing Obama.

We need to give the benefit of the doubt to priests (not journalists) for using good judgment and pastoral authority in determining on what rare occasions to withhold Communion.

verga, I’m curious, were you able to leave a message, and what did you say?

I can’t believe Phleger is not only allowed back into full ministry after such a short time, but in the same parish. St. Sabina’s is barely Catholic, it’s the same thing as Rev. Wright’s church, but just Catholic-style.

Several years ago when the Cardinal tried to rein him in, Phleger said if he was asked to leave St. Sabina’s he might quit the priesthood. Sounds to me like the perfect excuse to get rid of him.

There must be some pretty strong pressures on Cardinal George, and not from inside the Church either.

Readers Digest version.

1) Called Vocations # first-they directed me to communications

2) Called Communications, they directed me to the Cardinals office

3) Called Cardinals office.

Told all three numbers that I was disappointed that Pfleger was being allowed to return to St. Sabrina's. Suggested that given his inability to be obedient maybe he would be better served to be transfered to a white suburban parish.

When I talked to the communications person. I pointed out various incidents of not being obedient, ie..adoption etc..

I didn't yell rant rave or scream, (As much as I really did want to) because it is not anone there's fault except for the Cardinal and Father Phleger.
