Methinks there is great confusion concerning a Papal Encyclical (an "infallible" one no less) and Scripture.
This leaves me with several observations relevant to your craving for "scriptural" debate and your desire for yet another round of ritual Catholic bashing.
1. You are making the obvious mistake of those devoted to YOPIOS (your own personal interpretation of Scripture) of imagining that well-catechized Roman Catholics have the slightest interest in your idiosyncratic ideas and interpretation of Scripture. Answering ANY Scriptural query of the YOPIOS set amounts to nothing more than an invitation to endless, tiresome, mind-numbing, time-wasting yakfests which will wind up converting neither you nor me. If you want Catholic views explained, find an orthodox Roman Catholic scholar capable of explaining the wisdom and truth of the Teaching Magisterium to you. It is not hard to find one. Of course, a legitimate search of that sort does not provide much of a venue for showing off what you imagine to be Scriptural knowledge or for abominable preachiness.
2. When we have put an end to abortion, lavender perversion posing as "marriage," and the various evils of our mutual enemies and those of our Savior, we can think about the luxury of gang-fighting each other in public. We Catholics are not going to win public policy fights without the sincere Christians of "reformed" views and you guys are not winning without us.
3. I have every interest in seeing people of whatever persuasion ACT like Christians and no interest whatsoever in engaging you folks in useless argument. I was baptized in infancy (whether you like it or not) as a Catholic, confirmed as a teenager in that Faith, and I have every intention of dying as a Roman Catholic. Nothing whatsoever that you or any other "reformed" Christian may wish to preach at me is going to change that in the slightest.
4. Get out your Concordance and do your own Scriptural research.
5. I expect that this will be my last post on the subject whether you choose to reply or not. Some of your buddies are already on my list of FReepers to ignore over issues having nothing whatsoever to do with Catholic vs. "reformed."
