it was disrupted as I assume the mod got annoyed - but lacking an explanation - Im guessing

There is no non-denominational thread because there is no such thing as non-denominationalism.
Like the truck on the highway with the sign: "No Slogan - Just Service"

Because that truck said it had no slogan didn’t mean that it didn’t have one. And because you say your church is unaffiliated to something larger doesn’t make that true in the traditional sense. There is Catholicism, and then came Martin Luther - all that follow Luther’s disputations are Protestant, your denomination.

You assume I identify myself with Protestants, I do not nor am I Catholic.
I am a Bible believing, sprit filled born again Christian, who attends a church that is not bound by denomination classification.
You are free to accept that or not.

So yes, that would make all of them Protestant - BUT - non denominational Protestant

Agreed. The theological descriptive is Protestant (which was my reference here) and the governance descriptive is non-denominational, as you said.

I went to post a reply and my previous post is gone. What happened? Apparently the powers that beon Free Republic have determined that non-denominational churches do not exist and therefore there can be no non-denominational caucuses.
?????
FWIW, since I became a Christian, I have NEVER been a member of any denomination. So I guess that means that I don't exist, or maybe the church I attend does not exist.

Agreed. The theological descriptive is Protestant (which was my reference here) and the governance descriptive is non-denominational, as you said. From a purely technical standpoint, most independent evangelical Churches are NOT protestant as they do not trace their authority or doctrine directly to the reformation.

From where/whom do they trace their descent? Do they attempt to leapfrog back to the time of Christ? And do they state doctrine without resorting to Reformation terminology? How do they do this?

We are working out some issues at this time. I will get back to all of you concerning the “non-denominational” caucus status possibly tomorrow.

From where/whom do they trace their descent?I think the simplest way to express the idea is that God does not have grandchildren.
And do they state doctrine without resorting to Reformation terminology?
Some do, some don't.
How do they do this?
By the Grace of God and by the authority of scripture and by the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Where do you live? I'll give you a link to non-denominational churches in your area.

To: P-Marlowe
most independent evangelical Churches are NOT protestanteh - its the glass half full thing - If it aint Catholic, it's by nature, Protestant IMO

Thanks - I look forward to your direction
To: svcw
Then do you have a creed or statement of faith? I've always wondered what the term "nondenominational" meant.
Will doctrine change from pastor to pastor?
To: Jess Kitting
I would think that being a Bible believing, spirit filled born again Christian would be the answer.
However that is me and I am not the organizer of the “non denom” thread ;-).
Personally I like the gathering together of people who focus on Christ and His gifts/blessings rather that some list of things one must adhere to, to be.
