Unfortunately, our previous nondenominational caucus got deleted for unknown reasons.
To clarify for all... before I get accused of belonging to a denomination, I departed the Free Methodist Church in Sept, where I pastored, and have not yet found a new church.
Unable to participate in any caucus threads, I think there needs to be a place for non denominational Christians
I would like to use this caucus to begin accumulating names for a religion forum ping list, to be used for non denominational articles of interest. It would also be used in the new format of thread designations.
I’m sort of an eccletic mix of Church of God - United Methodist - Christian and Missionary Alliance - Mennonite - Reformed Presbyterian and Assembly of God (where I’m currently a member).
In other words, I’m an ecumenical mess.
how have you been - care to be on the ping list
Y’OK any excuse to show off your fishing expertise...
:)
Yuppers. :D
:)
Calvary Chapel has been formed as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Our supreme desire is to know Christ and to be conformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such, only their over-emphasis of the doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the body of Christ.
We believe that the only true basis of Christian fellowship is His (Agape) love, which is greater than any differences we possess and without which we have no right to claim ourselves Christian.
WE BELIEVE
Worship of God should be Spiritual.
THEREFORE
We remain flexible and yielded to the leading of the Holy Spirit to direct our worship.
WE BELIEVE
Worship of God should be inspirational.
THEREFORE
We give great place to music in our worship.
WE BELIEVE
Worship of God should be intelligent.
THEREFORE
Our services are designed with great emphasis upon teaching the Word of God for instruction of how He would be worshipped.
WE BELIEVE
Worship of God is fruitful to our lives.
THEREFORE
We look for His love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have been truly worshipping Him.
So you were in Southern California ehh.
My foster dad and mom plus the whole kid family (I was the oldest and was already out of the house) were involved in Calvary Chapel at the beginning.
Just to add my “church” experience: Assembly of God, EV Free, Baptist, Assembly of God, now I attend NCMI relating church (ncmi.net). No they are not a denomination but a group of churches who relate to each other with a common purpose, with Salvation at their core.

I can do the same with a stick of dynamite. ;-)
Did you ever get involved in the “Jesus Freak” rallies?
I remember we had a great march down the main street in Santa Barbara, CA. Thousands of people, it was really fantastic.
We had rally after rally in the convention center, singing and praising.
I think the song “Put your hand in the hand” was actually in the top 40.
One of my sisters was in Toronto, Ontario and the same thing was going on there.
It really was a great time.
I see a great revival coming shortly that will surpass what happened then.
Looks like about a 5 lb channel cat to me. :>)
I’ve got a denomination, but it isn’t especially exciting. Is that the same as not having one?
please add me to the list. thanks
I wondered where all the fellow non-denominational Christians were. There’s a lot less to argue about when you don’t have anything but your local church and the Bible.
I never knew the animosity that can happen between Christians before I came to the Religion forum.
I'm sure you do.
Although we accept twenties, we prefer fifties and hundreds.
“Ive got a denomination...”
Need I remind you, first a list, then a creed. What’s next, suits and ties on Sunday? I’m beginning to think you guys like the old hymns too. Good thing we held onto Ethyl the organist. She and the dirge may be coming back in style.
Please put me on the list but don’t use my real name since I took a vow when I married to be listless. As a Baptist, we have always been non-denominationalists, even to the point of getting kicked out of Massachusetts which is kind of like being thrust out of Egypt.
Thanks Dorben, but Ive left formal Ministry completely, and as such, no longer carry the title of Pastor
dude, this is the new church - casual Sunday, golf shirts and cargo shorts.....LOL
Im beginning to think you guys like the old hymns too
always have ;)
if you ever get a chance...there a version of Peace in the Valley by Red Foley that you have to hear, with a very young Chet Atkins on guitar
the reformation never ended and on top of that, too many people use that term while rejecting most everything Christians hold doctrinally
It is the bloodiest place on FR, and many many of them are excellent theologians
